DESCRIPTION

This 1/48 scale model is based on the fictional US Navy river gunboat “USS San Pablo” from the movie “The Sand Pebbles.” It is a 1920’s era steam (or “stim”) river boat that was serving in China. As a head’s up, I initially modeled this at 1/96 scale, but decided to double it at the end to 1/48. I normally make my hull thickness around 2mm, but because of the increase at the end it will be thicker. (However if you scale it down, your thickness should still be good to print and not too thin/brittle!) You will also notice that I left off the handrails and canvas covers. These would be very small and (in the case of the canvas covers) difficult for me to design, so I’ll leave those details in the hands of you skilled modelers out there!

I tried to keep all pieces under 250mm for printing. Some slicing may be required though.

At 1/48 scale, this model is about 950mm long, 158mm wide, and 450mm tall.

Due to website restrictions on naming conventions, some of the file names may not match up perfectly with the original list in the instruction booklet. The numbers will still match though.

I have not printed this plan personally yet, so if you run into any glaring issues please let me know and I will modify and directly send you corrected files as necessary.
