DESCRIPTION

This 1/96 scale model is based on archival drawings of the Sims class destroyer USS Hughes (DD 410), and so may look slightly different to pictures found online. USS Hughes saw service in the Pacific fleet for the entirety of WWII, with a break near the end of several months for repairs following a kamikaze attack. She earned 14 battle stars for her service in the war, and after decommissioning was used as a target for atomic testing before being sunk.

I tried to keep all pieces under of 250mm for printing. Overall, this model is roughly 1.1m long, 95 mm wide, and 320mm tall at 1/96 scale.

One change I’ve made on this model is to design support channels under the main deck for an 8mm carbon fiber rod for rigidity and support of a single piece deck to remove for inner hull access.

I plan to get printing on this model immediately, but if you beat me to it and find any issues please don't hesitate to reach out and I will make and upload corrections.
