1/18
This model was designed by request from my friend in honor of his father-in-law who served on her in WWII. (I hope your wife likes it, Walter!!)
This 1-48 scale model is the USS Gilmer (APD-11). It is based off of APD drawings from the National Archives, as well as photos of the actual USS Gilmer. Dubbed the “Green Dragons” because of their unique jungle pattern camouflage, these APDs were converted from Clemson class destroyers. Two of the four stacks were removed to make room for the 4 Higgins landing boats and davits. (Gilmer started its service as DD-233.)
I tried to keep all pieces under 250mm for printing, and designed with FDM printing in mind.
At 1/48 scale, this model is about 2m long, 190mm wide, and 620mm tall.
I have not printed this plan personally yet, so if you run into any glaring issues please let me know and I will modify and directly send you corrected files as necessary.
Edit 1 (1/15/26): Some gaps between the hull and the deck support were found on hull pieces 3-7 that caused a misprint. Files have been edited and re-uploaded in the folder. If you purchased the older version please feel free to reach out to me and I will send you the edited files.
