DESCRIPTION

This model is the first of a series of 1/245th scale waterline static tugboat models I am making for a customer. As it is so small, the details are not as robust as my larger models. But these models look the part and make great desk decorations!

This particular model is based on photos of the Mark E. Kuebler Z-Tech 30-80 tug designed by Rober Allan Ltd., built by Gulf Island Shipyards LLC., and used by the Bay-Houston Towing Co.

Due to the small size, I recommend using a .2mm nozzle for FDM printing. (However it CAN be done with a .4mm nozzle.) Also, some trimming/sanding may be required to fit parts into guide holes/slots. I have tried to optimize this model for FDM printing with flat faces to lay on the printing plate.

Dimensions: L- 121mm, W- 56mm, H- 57mm

Update: 6/7/2026 - Added in a separate hull file that is in one piece. (If you want to resin print, or FDM print with supports at an angle.)

Update: 6/10/2026 - Added in a few more detail pieces that were requested. A lifeboat and ladder that accesses the top of the pilothouse, as well as a ladder on the aft port quarter of the superstructure. These are not in the instructions, but I have included screenshots in the preview area to show their placements.
