While browsing Etsy, I discovered that two of my 3D print-ready models were being resold there by different shops and at much higher prices. I contacted the shop owners directly and asked them to remove the listings. Etsy take copyright/IP issues seriously, and both sellers took down the items immediately.
This made me realize that there are probably hundreds (if not thousands) of models bought from marketplaces like CGTrader that end up being resold on Etsy without permission. I just wanted to give everyone here a heads-up: it’s worth checking Etsy occasionally to see if your models are being misused.
I wouldn’t say they take it very seriously (unless you’re a huge corporation). Some profiles that sold only stolen models have been around there for years. I’ve been watching one like that. In the end, they banned it after a year... right before that, the owner moved most of their customer base to a personal website.
