CGTrader Considers 3D Model Rating

Personally, I don't care any more. I am no longer going to deal with customers on their behalf, answer queries or fix anything. They can do that themselves, and earn their cut. This is all the fault of their recent drop in royalty payments and other devious tricks like putting our models on sale against our wishes, and automatically assigning all models to "for use in ai training" etc, I know they are not listening, they do not care what you or I think, and they are not going to change anything in our favour. They have gone almost full Turbosquid. There is one thing they have yet to do to equal their scummy deal, and I am not mentioning in the vain hope that they haven't thought of doing it yet.

I agree. We have made certain arrangements.My post aims to provide information on a possible rating from CGtrader which in my opinion will harm sales as usual.

Staying united is our best strategy in the face of adversity.On this, they ask the buyers for their opinion but not the sellers.It is imposed on them.In view of the recent increase in royalties on the CGTrader side, it would be fairer if the sellers' opinions were also taken into account.

And the same is on the main competitor site. Even I have 80+ certified StemCell models which are placed on high-position in search result, still my bestsellers are not certified, not textured and not UV mapped vehicles models. In other words if some model is not demanded by customers any certification or whatever official proof or quality will not do demanded model from undemanded model. By the way the same is valid for paid promotions of models. )))

I fully agree that non-PBR model desn't have to be of lower quality automatically.
For example in my case my best-sellers are not textured (not UV mapped) vehicles models whereas most of my PBR models are not selling. Because my strategy is focusing on filling gaps in markets, high-quality topology and technical accurancy and clean design (if it is conceptual not branded model).
So yes every customer is different and there are many customers demandeing high-quality and unique models and they do not need PBR (they eventually will texture the model themselves).

I agree with your point of view, this is CGTraders way of trying to mimic Stemcell, and its poorly done, inaccurate and is not updated when the model is resubmitted. Its a way of trying to standardize things, which is a good thing when it works - even if the artists dont agree with some of those things since consistency is always better for the buyer.

Personally most of the things I make are PBR because why not, it was a standard set back in 2017 and is quite easy to do and transfer models between different 3D software which gives you a wider audience, each to their own however. If you only sell prints for example these ratings are not in your favor and can potentially give you worse ratings even though they might be of high quality.
