Hi. My model is progressing though a bit slower at the moment. The exterior seams of the hull were being sealed using a filler called Upol Dolphin Glaze. What I didn't know was it needs a hardener mixed in ( which wasn't supplied with my purchase and should have been. Strangly no instructions on the packaging is given. I applied the first layer of filler on the model unactivated without a hardener which could have resulted in ruining the whole model. As I found out it mixes like a standard carbody filler with the same type of hardener. I mixed a second layer of filler (with extra hardener) and applied it to the model, in the hope this would cure the first layer. It worked, so now I am in the process of sanding back a little more filler than intended. You will find the underside of the last two stern blocks will require more filler for a smooth finish.

For a 1:96 scale model I would suggest a '345' size motor. The original vessel has two rudders but even a single moto/shaft and rudder would also work on this size of model.

Best regards

Makes sense - I want to keep with the two motors / rudders...but happy to upsize the motors. I think two motors will make it look more authentic

For the 1/96 version, I was thinking 3MM shafts with brass propellers. Rudders could either be what is modeled or a pre-build standard rudder: Below are some of the links to products I was invisioning:

Shaft - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832754608106.html
Shaft Bearing - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832754608106.html
Propeller - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009472874590.html
Rudder - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808150330970.html

For the support bracket, I think we could either 3d print and utilize some bearings / sleve for support or just repurpose a prebuild support bracket.

That's a quick update on where things are with the model: The model has been printed 133% to 1/72nd scale. I have attached a number of photographs showing the progress. The hull has been printed and assembled using superglue and activator. I would suggest using the mesh smooth tool throughout as it did create a very smooth forward hull. The assembled hull was then epoxy resined on the inside at the joints reinforced with fibreglass tissue. The outside of the hull at the joints was then filled using a fine car-body filler, picture attached of the make that I use. At the moment the hull is drying and will be sanded back tomorrow. The model will be an R/C model, I enclose a picture of the motors and 6mm diameter shafts 250mm long she will be twin screw , twin ruddered. The propellor shaft tubes on the model were drilled out to 6mm. Regarding the rudders the slots that you created I filled in, I would suggest just to make a round indent on the outside of the hull where the rudderstock is. I am using small brass rudders the rudder blades will be enlarged using plastic sheet to the right size and shape as per your printed version. The motors will be driven using two 7.2v car buggy battery packs. I decided not to use your internal platforms as I wish the batteries to sit as low as possible in the hull the motor mounts will also be different. Finally the rest of the parts together with the parts for a wooden stand have been made. The flightdeck railing /netting did not print well, I intended to create my own using brass mesh. You can buy a flightdeck netting brass etch sheet from a company called "scalewarship.com" and brass railings can be bought from "Scale link fretcetera".
