1/1800th scale Type C3 Seaplane Tender model. Certain elements not to scale.

The Type C3 ships were American cargo ships built between 1940–1947 by the U.S. Maritime Commission as fast, long-range merchant vessels readily convertible for naval service. A total of 238 were completed, though many were built directly as or converted into escort carriers, attack transports, seaplane tenders, submarine tenders, and other auxiliary warships, making overall wartime losses difficult to determine. Armament varied by role: merchant ships typically carried defensive 5-inch, 3-inch, 40 mm, and 20 mm anti-aircraft guns, while naval conversions received armament appropriate to their missions.

Included with and without a PBM Mariner on the deck.

This model is designed and tested at 1/1800th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/1800th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The gun barrels and mast have been enlarged.
