3D model descriptionThis detailed 3D printable model of the CSS Neuse measures 628 mm in length (approx. 1:76 scale) and captures the character of this historic Confederate ironclad with depth and authenticity. The kit includes 89 separate STL files, and with the many repeatable accessory pieces, finished builds can exceed 150 parts depending on the builder’s chosen layout. The deck features three access lids, each designed to be secured with screws, allowing convenient interior access. The top superstructure is divided into three sections, with the center section functioning as a removable access lid, perfect for displaying the fully furnished interior. Along with exterior details, the kit includes an extensive interior accessory set: cannons, cannon shots, ammunition chests, barrels, crates, furniture, stairs, railings, and more—all reinforced for reliable FDM printing.

3D printing settingsAlthough primarily designed as a display model, the CSS Neuse kit intentionally includes features that make RC conversion feasible for experienced builders. A thicker, strengthened propeller brace is provided to accommodate standard propeller shafts and tubing with ease, and an over-deck rudder lever with linkage points hidden in the superstructure (styled as chain-passage holes) offers a clean solution for external control linkages. All hull sections are arranged for FDM printers with a 22 × 22 × 25 cm build volume, printing in either two or four hull-piece options depending on printer size. Recommended settings include 0.16–0.20 mm layer height, 3–4 perimeters, and 15–20% infill for larger parts. Smaller accessories can be printed slower, or on resin printers for sharper definition. The modular design allows builders to assemble a sealed display piece or an accessible, partially open model showcasing the interior. The model is also available as a full-color 3MF file.
