Hexa-Tile Lattice - Inverted Magnetic Connector - Concept.
The magnetic Hexa-tile is made up of two similar parts, yet slightly differ from each other, as we need two different magnetic configurations working together as one magnetically lockable hexagonal tile, to make the tile actually modular. Both halves are physically identical, only the placement of the magnets and their poles are different. And both halves are also equipped with little holes on both sides for placing and fixating small permanent magnets, so that the halves can simply lock together.
Also i have modelled in a tiny little cable slit, to possibly place a copper wire in, to be able to get and place electricity onto every single Hexa-tile forming the lattice, now electrically locked as well as magnetically, able to perform a function, like light up a centrally placed LED, etc, etc. The top is the Positive part of the electric circuit, the bottom is the Negative part of the circuit, both separated from each other across the entire lattice.
Then after we have assembled two halves magnetically locked together for forming the hexagonal tile, we want it to magnetically lock to 6 other, adjacent hexagonal magnetically locked tiles, to form a larger usable lattice, all with perfectly aligned centers.
If you two color-code the multiple tiles you print, you can very easily visually check and see upon assembly, that the magnetic configurations are good, and will all lock together, based on the two colors, signifying the magnetic poles, that will oppose each other every connecting side, as designed. The tiles could function as a electromagnetic fabric, or modular wearable screen etc.
Could go one step further and make two more rectangular magnetic holes and magnets, next to the central round magnet of each of the 6 walls, to make the connection with inverter magnets, pushing each other off, yet magnetically locking each other in place, non touching. The central round magnet attracting the other central round magnet, while the smaller rectangular extra side magnets repel each others presence.
It's a brain crusher, but it should work out perfectly, and if you look carefully, you will find i have managed to get a magnetic lock in each and every direction, allowing for magnetic linkage of the entire lattice, expandable to all sides.
