Opinion? Ask CGTrader to promise raising all prices %0.5 percent for every major artist catalogue that moves to CGTrader.

Just "joking", hehe. But it would be fun. Probably best to raise per model though.

CGtrader needs instant sales!

I think that price MUST be different on different markets. Because even the internet costs different in different countries. And electricity, and water, and bread, and so on.

guys I used to sell models in ts the same price as in cg but almost a year and a half ago I deleted all the models and the account from ts at the same price I got much less income than in cg, an unpleasant feeling when someone uses you in their own goals for your own enrichment, if you leave your model in ts and they will sell at the same price as in cg, then sales in cg will fall and from ts will be much less income, so my offers delete all models and account from ts solve all problems

I've moved all my models on Ts to offline until further notice, at this point for me Ts has lost all added value.
I’ve always felt bad turning over 60% of earnings and now they are starting cutting down on my prices, this is from bad to even worse, not participating in this anymore.

Ts relationship has always felt disrespectful to me, feel better now working with partners that have more respect for artists, I think a healthy relationship creates more opportunity for everyone.

I think Ts made this awful situation themselves, they made big mistake about 3 years ago underestimating what CGtrader could do for us (mostly non exclusives), if you ask me I would say Ts lost the battle out of sheer arrogance. They had hoped they could squeeze so hard with 60% cut we would eventually brake and go for exclusive deal, did not happen and they basically left backdoor wide open for competition to deliver interesting proposals to us, and they did.

there may be something I don't understand ..so excuse me by advance if my following theory is stupid :

its seems to me that is easy to bypass this issue. Just take a calculator:
example on TS your model costs $100 and $80 on CGT OK .. Just increase your price on GT by 30% and join the promotion system.
So on CGT your price will be $114 (greater than TS) but with the perpetual reduction of 30% it will be $80 as before ..
but as I said before, there may be a subtlety that I don't understand ..

The subtleties: A) Corporations seem to prefer buying on TS anyway, from my experience, and I don't know why, there must be lots of incentives. Your suggestion won't change anything but bias away the few that buy here. B) If TS goes to all the trouble to check out EVERY ONE of our models, comparing item by item price, it is naive to think they won't notice any other reduction scheme. The way I see it: either TS has a true grievance with clients complaining about lower prices elsewhere, or they use this a a bad excuse to push out every nonaligned artist out with this outrageous behavior. Any case it is a weak "win-win" scenario - we leave, the clients have no options left for that part of catalogue. Or - we HAVE to leave, and TS get what they "want" - a bunch of patsies that now have to be price-pressured, since there are no 40%-"losers" left to pay for their 60% l77t-status. In reality, probably TS has nothing to worry about, with all the kiddos&studios keep killing the market off, year by year. A market I don't waste time on anymore, except at especially cringeworthy moments like this one. They think that if a high-rez model pays for a few coffees, it's okay.
Supercigale wrote

your reasoning fails to overcome me. The studios like all the others go where the price is better for them. It's the law of the market. My personal experience also convinced me of this fact. Prices decreased by promotional way don't concern TS, I am the proof, because TS themselves make their own promotional reductions. I have not received a mail TS and yet I apply this model of calculation.

Yeah, they changed prices of my models too. Their politic is getting worse and worse but still.. better some money than none. Not sure that the customers will come here after I delete account there so...

This situation is bad for CGT anyway. They will loose trafic.
If few days ago clients who know that on CGT prices are lower was coming here from TS if they found a model they liked on TS. Just to check, but now with this new stuff clients from TS no need to search models for lower prices, because they have same prices, even lower. Because they change prices what is here lower than on TS, but not what on TS is lower than here on CGT. I think on TS store you can find all you need. So there need search in other stores.
CGT can make contests with good prizes for some categries that don't have lot of models and all models must be selling exclusive on CGT, so in that way they can offer to clients exclusive models what are selling only on CGT.
Or maybe make some kind team with 3d artists. They think what kind of products is needed in 3d market and give tasks to artists. All models created with this "team" stuff will be exclusive only on CGT.
CGT needs exclusive products not same products what is on other websites.

Make some badges for exclusive models and good boost for models. So maybe after some time artists will start create here exclusive models. Good boost for models + good royalities = motivation

I'm against awards for exclusivity... Maybe some badges sure but not cash rewards

The day when CGT will go exclusive way, will be the day when they will admit "we are no better than turbosquid".

@ZetoCG
I'm not saying that CGT must pay for exclusive 3d models :)
CGT make interesting contests with abobe at this moment, so imo can create chalenges to increase exclusive models on they web-store.

@LemonadeCG
There is big difference, give to artists opportunity to become exclusive, or make it by force.
TS actions don't let me choose, i want put my prices same like on CGT or not. They like dictators. It will be like this and that's all, if u don't like u can leave community.
Exclusive models are nothing new. Any community need something that have only they.
If TS with Check Mate, Syndication, Steam had royalties like here, lot of artists would sell 3d models there, why you need other places if all is in one place.

LemonadeCG wrote

You may be right, i might agree to exclusivity per model, but not to exclusivity per artist, like it is on TS. If one fell in exclusivity traps on turbosquid, one can't sell any models anywhere else, even under different alias. That's a real oppression.

Exactly, i was talking about models.

CGt does not need exclusivity schemes, it already has everything in place to become the biggest and most important marketplace and Ts is probably going for special curated and exclusive top level content and drive out all that is not in line with that, so unless you are willing to commit exclusive content that needs to withstand a massive checklist of quality criteria Ts will probably have no future for you.

No advantage for CGT exclusive models is desired or needed but CGT have to communicate with buyers that there are models which they will not find on TS. I don't get it why is CGT so passive about this issue so far but maybe they are working on something.

CGT should also IP block these stalking TS bots / employees. :)

LemonadeCG, it is possible to create 2 accounts on TS. Exclusive and non-exclusive. They are need different names and e-mails.

That TS system has some kind of algorhytm. As I'm newbie at selling models I have different photo on CGT and TS, different username (but a little bit), different preview picture, different model descriptions and even model names! why? Because I think that these are different marketplaces! Here you have rectangular previews and on TS previews are square. And I dont have any issues with fixing prices. May be becouse I'm not such a big fish :) and matbe all dirty job on TS do people but not program :)

Turbosquid is playing very bad market strategies. This is very cheap move. However, What about artist's profit ratio. ONLY 40% for us. WOW, All Artists are doing very hard job and still getting less share. Artist's hard job < TS profit, why??

I am not denying that some profit is not good than nothing. That is why TS taking advantage of this prespective.

Why we are forgetting that CGTrader has better UI experience and Artist oriented features. Turbosquid is very rigid and old school. We can talk here, share things, tutorials, competitions, job, and freelance etc.
At least my experience is very good here. Better sale and freelance.

I had a mail conversation few day’s ago with Ts staff and it was hopeless, the main argument was, (quote) “We feel that artists posting models at a cheaper price on other sites undermines the efforts of our exclusive artists “(end quote).

To me it looks like they are undermining their exclusive artists themselves.

The result of their outlandish policy is that almost all non exclusives are now leaving the platform (including me, my goods remain offline until further notice) resulting in even stronger competition for those remaining exclusives on Ts.

All these frustrated non exclusives are now competing successfully here on CGt against Ts, providing similar or even better quality goods at considerable better rate without hurting themselves. Most hardened loyal Ts customers see this quality goods and simply buy them here now, Ts exclusives will probably feel increasing pain of this, interesting to see how this is going to pan out for them because the way I see it is that Ts has no real solution for them.

I’m convinced there really is no way to compete successfully against CGtrader growth with current strategy's they come up with, CGtrader simply delivers superior service for fraction of the cost and Ts is doing nothing to bring added value to their platform to compensate for being such expensive service (which is the root problem).
