Top 3d model

Discussion started by 3DRTcom

What kind of algorithms are used in top 3d models list giving such results? Looks very informative and usable to visitors.

New seems to be a big factor. Something new is uploaded and gets into the top spot right away then a day or two goes by without tons of views, likes, etc. and it falls OR it gets lots of views, likes, etc. and stays there.

Either way it doesn't appear to be a great system since I see posts of this nature about twice a week.

It's a bit off-topic, but have you noticed that model listing on your profile page are erratic too? On my page they aren't sorted by upload date, nor category, nor alphabetically, nor view counts, nor price. What's left to sort by that I apparently haven't figured out? The general rating system, perhaps?

Response rate and average response time also don't seem to be relative. I have a response rate of 86% with an average response time of 0.9 h, whereas another designer has a response rate of 89% with response time of 5,9 h. The description says, "Support quality shows how well and swiftly the user responds to messages." I don't see how swiftness factors into the results when taking 5 hours longer to get back to someone yields a 3% higher response rate. Maybe the 'wellness' factor needs a bit more transparency. And besides that, customer and general user contact is all lumped together, so it's not really a reflection of 'speedy customer service'.

It's all kind of 'Alice in Wonderland'-ish, so I'm going to let it slide. I just wanted to point out the other places the 'magic factor' seems to be influencing ranks and ratings.

Tersta, my products are shown in published order within an account.
Though if you make a search with vendor's name they are shown in some weird way.

Yes, it's the public presentation (e.g. https://www.cgtrader.com/3DRTcom) that has confused ordering for me and apparently you too. The private My Products page lists models by upload date with most recent at the top.

It's a 'mystery'... Unless you actually get a formal response to your post that clears up questions.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments and feedback!

Regarding the top models on the front page, they are listed by the trending score. Here you can find a list of factors which are influencing the position of the models: https://www.cgtrader.com/pages/how-trending-models-work

Talking about the models on your profile, they are listed by the quality score as we are working on showing the best content first on all pages. The quality score is influenced by different factors such as the number of the views, number of sales of the concrete model, rating assigned by the admin and many more.

Thanks for the feedback on the response rate, we will review it for sure!
