Stretched preview images

Discussion started by frabuondi

Hi

Since last update I noticed the preview images are Always stretched instead of cropped. Does that mean I have to reupload all of the images to have the preview show correctly?

If so, why is not there a warning about proportions/ratio the image should be according to?

Does this affect only some users or Others are experiencing too the issue?

I agree there are certainly some changes to the worse, made with preview images. Unless viewed in expanded mode quality of images is pretty bad, they look blurry and unappealing. I wonder why such changes was made?

Hi there,

Could you share a few examples with me?

Eduardas, you could look at the community ratings page for example - preview images looks especially bad over there. If they are not of ~4:3 ratio, they are horribly cropped and very blurry. I even stopped to give ratings because of that. On the other places, it is quick preview images (the ones that pops out when you hover your mouse over thumbnails), that suffers sometimes. As Hend Z already noted, they shows sometimes good and sometimes blurry. Mostly problems can be seen on mobile devices.

As I cannot directly post images, I will put the link to the model, but it would be better if I could share a screenshot of how it looks on my browser... However, here it is one of many examples, look especially at the third thumbnail https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/house/lighting/hermit-crab-printable-lamp Edit: the first thumb was stretched even more than it is now, but I uploaded a different ratio trying to guess the correct proportions and it helped a little

I make my images with 1.33 ratio. They are not stretched, but since that update, sometimes they look blurry and sometimes they look normal.

Some of my images are good, that means 1:33 is the right ratio for the images to show correctly. Thank you for sharing your experience... If anything, at least now I know the correct aspect

On my end, it seems like this phenomenon varies with the browser you use. With Firefox, the original aspect ratio of the uploaded previews seems to be preserved. But with Internet Explorer 11, the images seem to become stretched to fit a 4:3 landscape ratio.

I use to make pictures in 1024x768, so in a 1.33 ratio, and those appear perfectly and not stretched
