New way to increase reputation - liking models on CGTrader

Discussion started by ed-cgt

CGTrader is introducing a new way to increase your reputation - from now on users will get 1 reputation point for each model he likes.

Why are we adding this to the list?

1. This will encourage users to praise designers by liking their favorite models so designers will get the better sense of what's interesting for other designers and 3D community members.

2. This will help CGTrader to collect more information while sorting search results and highlighting models in top models pages.

3. This will let designers reach reputation heights even faster meaning that their royalty rates will also increase faster.

The only limitation that you should be aware of is that you can't rate more than 20 models or galleries during a day.

So, start liking your favorite models and earning your reputation points! To start with, go through currently trending 3D models and 3D Print models.

I can see where getting your model liked would add to reputation, but getting rewarded FOR liking models seems counterproductive. I can see where artists could abuse this and just like 20 random models per day just to boost their own reputation, which defeats the purpose of getting your model liked in the first place.

Was a model truly appreciated, or do we just like the idea of our OWN reputation going up? In order to keep my reputation rank, I feel l need to start liking models left and right. I'm not a fan of this new concept. Just my thoughts, thanks

Astute observation Pivotal3D. . .

I just likes 10 of your models and got 20 rep points. Apparently, we can double-like too.

BTW, all your models are great, just GREAT! :-) But really, I'm not sure if the opinion of a fellow designer has much bearing on your reputation as a designer. Why would I buy one of your models, when - if I am skilled in modelling - I should be able to make a similar one? All in all, my likes don't reflect much on the market worth and saleability of your products. . . and maybe that's the whole point of moving away from market worth and toward social network style points.

I CAN barely configure advance rte mmvsec versus etrusion rate 1:75mm to 0.4mm 3D printing is fun but open source programming keeps all documents online (no unified dowloadable documents), so voting for functionnal software vs file format choice$$$ the quality of the artist is secondary to the usefulness of these objects. Virtual reality versus printable usefull.
Vote makes no difference if it's just rendered pictures. ;)
I love art too.

Good thinking. I hope it works, and that people don't abuse it.

Hello Rojo, You have to share the message via social media, then you should be able to download other models. Best Regards, Eduardas

I have done many times but it does not work. I like the models & share them multiple times but no download. I dont mind doing that I support that because I am getting something for nothing & to show support is the least I can do. Is there a limit to how many can be downloaded in a time period?

Hi Rojo, You're supposed to get 5 free downloads after the share. Did it work? You're also awarded more downloads after you reach a higher level on our Platform.
