Cool model, you linked to, as far as I know, that little town is in Germany by the way. I can't quite remember the name of it but I'm sure someone here will say.
When you say France, Italy etc, do you mean modern? If you're talking medieval times then they wouldn't have had flat roofs mate.
The style of the doors, windows, the siena colored rooftiles are very unlikely to be found here (I've been all over my country here and never seen such houses - does not mean there is not few like that but very very unlikely) . Have seen such places in italy and southern france though a lot. That one of the link seems to be most likely in italy since the school name (primary and secondary school) and other names on there are definitely italian. ;)

It's some religious village mate, totally not like the rest of Germany. As far as I remember they're not even Germans that live there lol. We have something similar here, a little hamlet of about 60 families that have bought the land and made home from home, literally lol
