New Seller's Chinese - Style Beast Head Door Knocker Asset Pack: Low Views & No Orders—Seeking Advice

Discussion started by qifei

Hello everyone,
I'm a total newbie who just started trying to sell models on CGTrader. About a week ago, I uploaded a set of Chinese - style beast head door knocker asset pack models. But so far, there's been very little traffic, and I haven't got any orders at all.
This is my personal referral link provided by CGTrader, where you can check out my models: [https://www.cgtrader.com/designers/qifei?referral_id=6422553]
I'm really confused and wondering if it's because the quality of my models is too poor, the price is set too high, or maybe the audience for this Chinese - style category is too small.
Since I'm new here, I would really appreciate any advice to help me figure out how to adjust the direction for my next model creations. Thanks a lot!

Hi. Your models look good. Price seems reasonable for the quality, but the lack of sales has little to do with quality or pricing at this point. You just uploaded the models a week ago. Competition is steep, and your models aren't something that people are searching for often. This, combined with the fact that sales seem to be down across the board for everyone this year, don't expect sales to happen quickly on any single item. If something like this sells two or three units in a year, you will be fortunate.

Instead, do your research into what people are looking for and make as much high quality content as you can in a reasonable time frame. Don't expect or wait for anything to sell. Just keep adding content to your profile and store. Sales will come eventually, but it's really a numbers game in a saturated industry. Good luck! You seem to do good work.

Hi there! First off, I really appreciate your detailed and encouraging reply—it means a lot to me, especially as a new seller still figuring things out. Right after reading your response, I took a look at your profile, and I was genuinely impressed by your work! With nearly 300 items available (including those awesome brushes, various 3D models, and even 3D printing-related assets), you’ve built such a comprehensive collection—I can tell you’ve got tons of experience in this space. Your advice about researching what people are looking for really got me thinking. I wanted to ask: Do you think it’s a viable strategy to create models based on the trends and best-selling categories shown on CGTrader’s homepage? I’m hoping to align my work with what the platform’s audience is actually searching for, but I’d love to hear your take since you know the platform so well. Thanks again for taking the time to share your insights—they’ve been super helpful!

@qifei, the models on cgtrader dashboard are not trending. Cgtrader is asking money from sellers to display their models there. Those models might be selling well, but you can't know if that's because the buyers are actively looking for such content, or it's because that content is being constantly pushed in their faces. Just be aware of that fact before you "take inspiration" from "trending" models.
