What kind of file format are you trying to download?
When the new window with the file opens does url ends with the file extension? Like https://www.cgtrader.com/somethingsomething.OBJ ?
Some 3D file formats are just plain text files. Like OBJ for example.
If the server is not configured properly it will just open the file in the browser instead of forcing it to download.
If you save the "page" then you just downloaded the file.
Have you tried to import/open it in your 3d software?
If the url does not ends with file extension and you save the page you will end up with correct file but wrong file extension. You would need it to rename it to correct one.
Anyway it's CGT "fault" and they should correct it.
If they don't respond you can try to contact the seller and ask him if he can upload it in an archive like a .zip or .rar these would download properly.
I know i'm very late to this thread, but i did what you said and downloaded the page, but now when i try to import it to tinkercad, it says that it is not a supported file type. Is there a way that i can turn the .txt download into a .obj?
Renaming will only work if you actually downloaded OBJ file and not something else. You can open the .txt file and it should contain hundreds of lines like this "v -78.6710 130.3727 86.1862".
If not it's not an OBJ and you downloaded something else and you should contact support@cgtrader.com and they will help you.
You can rename file extensions if Windows File Explorer - in top menu click on "View" and check "File name extensions".
Then right click on the .txt file, select "Rename" and just rename .txt file extension to .obj
Other way is opening .txt file in Notepad, ctrl+shift+s (save as), name it like something.obj and save.
