Does offering 4K textures actually drive more sales for mid-sized props?

Discussion started by realscanlabs

Hey guys. When selling mid-sized environment props (like tools, workshop equipment, industrial items),

do you notice a significant difference in sales when providing 4K PBR textures versus just 2K?

Does the average buyer on CGTrader look for maximum resolution to downscale it themselves,

or do they prefer smaller, pre-optimized file sizes?

What is your experience regarding texture resolution and conversion rates?

Been a while since you posted this, so my answer may be irrelevant at this point.
Having said that: As a buyer-only, I definitely prefer 4K textures (or higher) as an option.
For gaming models it might be less relevant, but if you do detailed work for still renders etc, most clients will probably prefer higher resolution.
As for how this affects sales: For me, a 2K texture on a model would be a potential dealbreaker, whereas 4K textures would make the texture resolution a non-issue. That doesnt translate to a sale if the model isn't right for the job, but it at least removes one reason to not purchase a given model.
Hope that helps.
