about price reduce

Discussion started by peter112

prices are falling sharply. If you look at trees and you filter by cheapest. you can find trees there for 2 dollars. (the quality is quite good) that means that I also have to lower my prices if I want to earn something. eventually cg trader will also have to look at this, otherwise they will not earn anything anymore

I doubt that someone who made those HQ trees by themselves will sell that for 2$.

have you looked at your own models? i sorted them on price as well, and the first page is all 2$ and a few for 3$
and when i looked up trees and sorted them on prices (like you suggested), one of the first models that came up was yours for 2$

how about you stop being part of the problem before you start complaining about it.
prices are falling sharply because sellers like you panic and lower prices just because you are afraid of the competition.
That and because of thieves.

yes, you lower your prices. that is exactly how you are being part of the problem. first one person sets a price, then a other person goes below that, that somebody else goes below that etc. etc.

Just because you didn't start the problem does not mean you can not be part of it. Just keep your prices up. I didn't lower mine and i still make sales on models, even if there are cheaper versions of it by others.

CGT will not look at this.
It is only up to you wheather you want to give your hard work for free or not.
And what will be your next step when you see 1$ model? Will you set all your tree models to 1$?

It's the only way, raising my prices makes no sense or do you think so? I know it's not an easy problem and yes I also had a few 3d objects for $ 2 so people could try them out. But now I'm thinking to price everything to $ 2

Well, I can't read that neither but you don't need to in digital ages... and he is right.

I sell trees (and other plants) and have kept my prices constant at what I think is a fair price without noticing any drop in sales. In fact, my sales have slowly, but steadily, been increasing. Maybe I'm missing sales because I'm selling for more than $2, but frankly I'd rather sell nothing than stoop to such lows. At those prices, it's just not worth it after all the various fees, taxes and whatnots have been taken out. Also, you got to ask yourself what sort of customer would be happy to pay $2 for an obviously $20 model?

Just meant to add as well, it's not just a moralistic point, it actually doesn't make economic sense. At $2 you need to sell 10x to match 1 sale of a $20 model; actually, it's probably more like 12x-15x because the aforementioned fees hit the low priced items harder. I can't really see a $2 item selling 15x more just because it's $2. Dunno, maybe I'm wrong and the $2 items really do sell that order of magnitude better.
