Forcing sellers to migrate to third party payout process Hyperwallet is a no go for me

Discussion started by richard-cg

Dear CGTrader Team,

I have waited many days, to get an answer to my email, where I've explained that I didn't want to change to a third party payout process (Hyperwalllet), and asked where it is mentioned in our contract, that your company is able to change this, in an unilateral manner (knowing that my payment process is working more than fine for me).
- I didn't get any answer to this question.

To the other question "What will happen to my money already on my account before this new implementation, if I don't want to use Hyperwalllet", here is the answer I got:
- "Since Hyperwallet is the only payout option if Hyperwallet account is not created all collected royalties will stay in CGTrader account. "

So you are keeping our money if we don't want to subscribe to a third party payment process???!
Is this for real?

the only explanation is they wanna force all sellers to join Hyperwallet otherwise they could make announcment and let all sellers know about it 2,3 month before making it the only payout method for sellers

The thing is,

Is this even legal to change unilaterally the payment method, and to refuse to pay the money that was already on our accounts, BEFORE this new implementation.

This is the question I've asked, for those who would like to try to get the answer too,
"Where is it mentioned in our contract, that you can change the payout process on your own, without our agreement?"

CGTrader didn't answer this question too when asked (strangely)...

Take screenshots of your sales and emails from here about the announcement of Hyperwallet and file a criminal complaint with the police. There are a lot of people who don't get any money now and the amount is high. You also now have more experience and can warn others about cgtrader.

I submitted clear as day photos of my ID to get my payment approved to which they replied the DOB was not "legible". Only way you can't see the DOB on my photos is if you have severe eyesight issues. Well turns out, they DID in fact make an error and ended up approving me without any additional documents. I logged on the HyperWallet portal, and found they charge an additional fee to withdraw your funds. So even if you got on it, the mercy of your money is entirely on HyperWallet. Imagine if they decide to ban you for no reason but you have hundreds of dollars in there? Reading their TrustPilot reviews, that has already happened to some people and they've lost hundreds of dollars. It all boils down to: If it's not broken, why fix it? This switch to this payment was never needed.

This is why I will not use a third party services. The contract I agreed in the first place, was with CGtrader. Everything is working fine, no need to change. There is no way they can explain why suddenly bank transfer should not work anymore.

And if I use PayPal to withdraw funds, will payments begin? No need to connect to a hyperwallet?

Update, about email exchange,

Here is the answer I got, regard to not proceeding to the payment of what is left on my / our account, if we do not subscribe to Hyperwallet.

- "If the payout option is not chosen, royalties will not be sent; therefore, they will accumulate in your CGTrader account until your payment agreement is verified.
Regarding the legitimacy of the change, we comply with terms and conditions 16.1 section :
16.1. CGTrader reserves the right at any time to modify, suspend or terminate the services (or any part thereof) provided at the Site, and/or your use of or access to them, with or without notice."

This could impressed any youngster without experience (I have no doubt), BUT, the "terms and conditions 16.1 section" doesn't mean, in no case, that they can legally retain my / our money.

They have a bank account fully functional, so as we; so there is no technical issue that prevent to at least perform a bank transfer.

CGTrader, which has is headquarter in the Europeans Union, should know better than this, IMO.

I have requested the content of my emails, to be forwarded to the legal department about this issue.

Once done, I'll take of this place, which is clearly not supporting the ones that are really feeding them.
No content creator, no CGTrader.

Once you accept the unacceptable, they will always press you like a lemon (I take it as a test)
It's not like they were no other marketplace...

Hyperwallet is not Paypal alone, it belongs to Amazon, HomeAway and Expedia Group i.e. and a.o.t. too because of their SHARES on this BS companany. Paypal manages it after investing 4OOM that are actually thrown out of the window, because people hate it and do NOT trust THEIR OWN MONEY to park it at this stillbirth. Hyperwallet was and is a stillbirth, and neither we as sellers and artists nor the whole world does not need it.

I strongly believe the only reason this Hyperwallet grift is happening is that they have a deal with them and receives a whole lot of $$$ depending on how many people switch over to them. Thus forcing this on everyone when they clearly have other means to pay out the artists. This is pure and simple greed, nothing else. Not a "this is so much better and more convenient" bullshit. I will not play along. Eventually, inevitably there will be another payment method. How and when, can't say, can take a year or five. But there will be. It'll be too late for me though.

I came to the exact same conclusions few days ago.
CGTrader must have been offered some kind of remuneration, if they bring their "clients" database to Hyperwallet.
In fact, we get triple milked by CGT: Payment processing | Royalty rate | and this new "little arrangement between friends"
From 3 choice of payout processes, to only 1 enforced. That's the way CGTrader builds partners' loyalty.

Wasn't the whole payment option change meant to reduce transaction fees? I'm getting higher transaction fees for less money than a month ago ever since they forced me to change

Lower fee structure for most sellers

This is were "for most sellers" should rise some interrogation,

https://www.cgtrader.com/blog/introduction-of-hyperwallet-implementation-as-a-payout-method-for-our-sellers

"4. Clear fee structure and lower fees for most
The fee structure with Hyperwallet is transparent, with different charges for various transfer methods. It's designed to provide clarity and help optimize costs based on the seller’s preferences. Also transfer fees now will be lower for the majority of our sellers.

Fee Summary:
PayPal/Venmo: $0.3 / €0.25
Local Bank: Basic $0.8 / €0.7 / International $4.1 / €3.75
Wire Transfer: 2% (min $7.7 / €7 / max $23 / €21)
Foreign Exchange Fees: 1.9%-3.75%
Note: these fees are charged by Hyperwallet, not CGTrader, and may change at any time. Fees will be converted from Euro to the currency of your transfer."

AND HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR NEW CONTRACT,
The little note at the end,
"Note: these fees are charged by Hyperwallet, not CGTrader, and may change at any time. "

On top of that.. I would add an little note- If you are selling 3dcontent.. here or other places like cgt, and your count of products is above 100.. think about doing a little experiment -test purchases- ask friends from different countries to buy your 3dmodels.. it would be very interesting how many of the 10 sales(forExample) you will be informed )) I'm not trying to wear an tinFoil hat but... who knows.. results can be interesting.

Everybody just wants my personal info, telephone, adress, ID number, family names of my mothers fathers. I have it all on verified payPal with connected bank. Use it FFS bc I will not be verified by everyone everywhere around the world, sending my documents to people who aren't even from my country, because I don't work for anyone. I feel violated about this. My clients would like to pay the way it is comfortable to them. Why can't I be paid the way it's comfortable to me. This is just one of many websites I post my stuff. And only one I think that disallows linking to other portfolio sites. And this is first time someone says he will keep my $ until I switch to. It's me who shares my income with CGT so as I see it, they work for me, not the other way around. CGT, you're suspended, and possibly fired from your duties. I draw a line here.

Of course, over 5 years had gone from the forum post about editing or deleting posts, and nothing changed. Ability to unpublish models temporarily it's also in brainstorming phase

I've sent them this:

"I still haven't signed up for your "hyperwallet" because you forced this innovation and removed the regular PayPal and Payoneer that worked fine before.
You have deprived all of us of choice.
So I will deprive you of my 3d models and the ability to make money from them.
I decided unpublish all my models until you will not get us choice.
And I ask you to send me the CURRENT payment agreement concerning my current state and account and payout my current earnings concerning that payment agreement.
Bring back the WORKING methods and add the new one as an OPTION, not the only option!"

Will see the answer.

Here is the answer you'll get,
Official (unacceptable) answer from the support on this matter,

" [...] No other payment option is valid since we no longer send payments to any payment provider except Hyperwallet.
I do not think this discussion is worth continuing since no exceptions are being made or can be made.
Please let me know if you require further assistance.
Regards,
J."

I recommend to not click the link t " Changes to the payout process " , as this will probably be interpreted as acceptance of the new payments method.

Honestly, this is just my 2 cents, nothing that I can prove for this.
But I would not be surprised...
