sale experience from another perspective

Discussion started by wiz-abidal

Well, instead of all the moaning about low sales etc. I'd like to hear from anybody who does at least $250 (wire transfer) per month even in the bad times. Can any such artist share his/her experience? As for me, my sales are always rather poor but I'm aware that my gallery is of course too tiny to do better, so I'm mostly quiet about that. I'm asking just because constantly hearing "no sales, no sales, no sales" is nothing but terribly demotivating from anything.

Your work is good and the presentation is quite pleasing.

I think your prices are a bit too low - some people may think they are stolen. I was pricing mine similar to yours and when I researched the average prices for models of similar quality and increased my prices I sold more, theres a balance to achieve which takes practise - we obviously dont want to overcharge people either and keep the market fair.

The other issue is nearly all of your content is in the flooded market (Im in the same boat). Theres already too much furniture thus not a high need to buy more. Unless you can offer something unique in this catagory will you have an advantage, is it better quality than designconnected for example, can you offer a range of things to suit a style like evermotion etc.

Once you work out the above, the next step would be offer your models in a variety of different formats. Can you ensure that your models look 100% the same in cinema4d, maya, fbx, unreal engine, GLTF? If not you are missing out on potential market places. For example if you had less models but more formats then you pick up more customers as people in other industries can use your products. All of this takes research, so taking a step back from the 3D package to evaluate things can be the most beneficial thing you can do with your time.

A post by @SimonTGriffiths covers this and more posted recently. I suggest you give it a read and think about it.

I agree with Jmdvella in that I think your models are quite good, but priced too low. And you are good at presentation of them. It is probable that few people who make furniture models sell a lot of them per month. But, there are many architects who are looking just for furniture - so "hang in there!"

I do not think anybody who earn 250 per month is iterested to write here... My opinion such Seller must have at least hundreds of models may be even thousands... So... continue to upload Your models! Good luck!
