Model Sold but 0 Downloaded

Discussion started by akbarindra

I check my Monthly Summary in My Sales, it shows 2 Sales but 0 Download, what's the point buying model but not downloading it afterward?

Actually I'm glad you brought this up. I just noticed for one of my items it was purchased once, downloaded 40 times in a month. I wonder if people are sharing their account? More data would be useful, like location of those downloads.

Sorry if I hijacked this thread but I only noticed after you wrote this. I don't know the answer to your question, maybe they intend to download it when they are home or starting their personal project or something like that.

@akbarindra Don't be surprised if you get all those salse refunded. Here is the thing, very often people mistake cgt models for the real thing (real thing=physical object that will be delivered to them) when they realise (after the purchase) that it's not a real thing, they will obviusly contact support and ask for refund, and because files aren't downloaded support will refund them 100%. It doesn't matter how much time is passed after a purchase, some time ago a seller here told me that he got refund on a model 8 months after purchase, buyer didn't downloaded files. https://ibb.co/LYsX3M3

@tobiasrieper I even post the video preview of my model so there's no way people mistaking it to a real thing (physical product) anyway. Several months ago i got sales with 0 download, and the money has been transfered to my paypal account, so there's no way cgtrader gonna took back my money, right?

@akbarindra Don't get me wrong, it doesn't matter what you did in order to prevent misunderstanding (videos, renders, description warnings, etc) there will always be someone who don't know what he/she is doing. As far as refund goes ,it doesn't matter if money is transferred to your paypal account, because if someone of those customers ask for refund cgt will get that money from your next sale.

@3DCargo, if someone wants to share your models, there are much more simpler ways to do that than to share cgtrader account login credentials and risk that account will be suspended due to suspicious activity and access for future download will be blocked. I think most logical explanation for unusually high number of downloads, is the glitches in cgtrader system, but if you want to clarify things, you may contact the support and ask them to check if download attempts were performed from multiple IP addresses.

Cheers @LemonadeCG, that sounds like the best course of action.

I have noticed this unusual amount of downloads too sometimes. That is, way more downloads than the amount of items sold that month. Since there is no way of knowing which models were downloaded, I just assumed it is people coming back and re-downloading the models they bought many months ago. But that is just my assumption.

Click on My Sales, then Latest Downloads. You can see which models were downloaded, so yeah there is a way to know which ones were downloaded and on what date.
