How to Use It?
Getting started is simple:
1) Go to your My Models page.
2) Click "Promote" next to the model you want to boost.
3) Choose your keywords.
Your model will then move up in searches.

I've noticed for a long time that there's something wrong with the search.
Get ready for some harsh criticism, you are clearly going down the wrong path. I had Legend status on the site and was getting 80% of the payouts, now I am getting 70%
Why did you treat the veterans who were with you at the beginning of your journey this way?

Cgtrader team, i am not sure that in long term, this new promoter option Is gonna do well in general. Many artists might promote bad or low quality models now... While good models, that are selling well , might go down by a lot if you do not promote It, It might not be reached at all...
Or am i wrong?

These managers need to be fired.
I meant the technical rating of the model and not the reviews, different formats and a large number of different previews, now they have changed this system too... but the search still does not take into account the quality of the model and works quite randomly.
@2dhd, those can be (and are) exploited even more easily. Look how many sellers are uploading 100s of repeating preview images and wall of text copy pasted from wikipedia. If there is some system, there always will be people who tries to exploit it. Not saying that new pay to win system is the solution, quite the opposite - it's the most disgusting thing they could do, especially after payout reduction.

Big sellers = more money
Small sellers = less money
less money ≠ more credits
more money = more credits
more credits = more buys
This is not get ready to be seen, its 'lets make big sellers millionaires'. This already happened with the new payout system and it only makes big sellers richer.
Well said, if you're running as a full-time business with multiple designers, you're going to make far more money than someone working on their own. Completely unfair.

Oh brilliant, now they bringing pay to win. Is that what you came up with after you said "We are actively exploring adjustments" to the new payout rates after massive cry out by the sellers? What's next on your agenda to "help" to your users? Maybe payout once a year, or when seller accumulates $5000 in sales? What a bunch of clowns. cgtrader is truly dead now.

recently there was a 1 month homepage appearance for 120 dollars, i guess it didn't work..
now you want us to buy keywords.
google ads appear next to free models.
what's really going on? who comes up with these ideas?
these ideas are against the structure of 3d model or stock sites..

There is no need for them to charge a fee anyway. The new commissions will make the company rich enough anyway.
Is that for real? They even paywalled homepage appearance? That explains why the same models are stuck here for months. I thought it was just a glitchy site as usual. I see they are determined to squeeze every single dollar from the sellers.

@IndieArt, thanks for letting me know that. I'm opted out of all promotional e-mails, so wasn't aware about yet another sleezy move from cgt. I probably should stop visiting this site for a while, never felt so emotionally drained before :(

You have completely confused me with these numbers, percentages and amounts. Now I have even started to confuse the days)
This is the point!
Credits - free or paid - can only buy you 1 second at the top, then you get lower and lower in the search results. If you don't want to be buried at the bottom of the list, you have to spend money constantly on credits.
I'm not touching those dirty credits. Lets see how much my sales will fall this month. It seems soon you will have to pay to cgtrader for a privilege to keep your models here.
Don't try delete just renew price to high all your models if you want stop sell from this website.

My coffee bean and nut are already on the first page of the search for the query nut, and are in the 2nd row.
Why do we need all these points and mockery of authors?
What the author needs is - came, quickly loaded, forgot. THAT'S IT!
And returned to his work.
If the author has a new portfolio, then he will not get out of 60 percent for at least 2 years.
I would also be happy to turn off all the models for a while. I can't bring myself to delete everything completely... at least not yet. How much time did it take to add models, pictures and descriptions, etc.
Agreed, lots of work, research etc. Im on the fence here, but the way things are heading Id rather just turn off my CGT account for a few months if they continue this way. If not then by September im out. Its just a kick in the face on the royalty rates, now a curb stomp with this point system. It doesnt sit right with me.
Yes, lots of work, but as for me, I decided to just pull the plug and delete all my models. Will keep a profile here for a while to provide service to past purchasers.
A minor comment or two on the AI-model-building issue. I've been following the developments (even paying money to try some of the AI tools from time-to-time). In my experience so far, I don't believe professional 3D model-builders have a lot to fear from AI yet. At least not for several years. It is true that SketchFab got killed with 41,000 model submissions in 3 weeks time by one AI builder before they put a stop to it last week. But if you purchased and examined any of those $2.00 USD models like I did, you wouldn't find them threatening. In fact, I can't image anyone actually purchasing those cartoon-like models more than once. 41,000 pieces of simplistic junk. I think some of the tools have some promise as aids to us pro model-builders, but I'm not worried about the AI threat yet. So, I don't think that all these CGTrader changes are necessarily in response to a looming AI threat. Given the steepness of the Payout schedule, and the "search boost" strategy, this seems more like a takeover by some recent, inexperienced Finance Major college graduates.
@Forester, AI is not what im referring to here. I use AI myself, I suggest all artists do the same, the tech is bonkers. If you understand how to use Nuke/Natron/Houdini then Comfyui is leagues ahead, free and amazing. While the topology and outcome is amazing I don't advise it for selling due to copyright, but the writing is on the wall. Youtube it if you don't understand, you don't need to pay any AI services just use your own hardware, its private/unsensored/powerful. My point is purely related to the tactics CGT are adhering to.

1- subscription model ( credit points/ highest paid subscription) will be visible more like Blender market
2-exclusive royalty , more money = more royalty
3- like youtube they may included advertisement popup ( never Know)

Credit Points are most familiar among AI Generator User ,as Most AI Site needs credit point to create AI Generated model, So they are the people the who burn endless cash to purchase Credit Points,
its a greater system to collect cash for a short term from Ai Creator Ironically,

They don't like people running PPC campaigns on the market as it affects their branding etc, so it's likely more to do with that. I remember thinking years ago it would be be better if a marketplace had an internal PPC style system so hopefully it works. I wonder how are more credits obtained though?

In general, all this is strange.
First, they wrote to me on the site that allegedly some people bought the model and they need all my credit card details. Then I received an email allegedly from the site that they need my credit card and here is a link where to enter all this. I was surprised then that everything was somehow completely harsh. Then my friend received the same thing, she also sells models here.
After 2 weeks - some payments for a subscription came, it is not clear all this, where, to whom, but okay.
And after another 2 weeks - they change the rating, lower the percentage, create a system of points similar to artificial intelligence generators .. in general))) what is going on here?
Now my friend and I do not know what to do, before we uploaded photogrammetry, somehow planned something there, now we roughly have 2 squids, there is no main site where to upload works, which inspires, sells, pays a normal percentage and all that. That is, it didn't work out for us like they did something there and we were like wow, how cool, you guys are so great... it worked out for us like - they broke everything, everything disappeared, we need a new place...
In general, we decided to do nothing for now, to watch.
If it's like a squid now, then we'll have to do something about it.
But seriously, it's all so strange...
If anyone ever requests your credit card/bank details its obviously a scam. Banks tell you this repeatedly in all communications, they will never request this information from you. Please don't spread misinformation.
Well, yes, it's obvious. But I've never seen anything like this in 10 years of working with photo stocks... spamming like this, trying to deceive... and most importantly, they somehow found out about the email address the account was registered to, specifically my girlfriend's account, despite the fact that it is not used anywhere except the site. I suspect that they took it from the site's database somehow, because it came directly to the email from the site. So I don't understand what's going on at all. I wrote to their support service, they didn't answer me.
"Please do not spread misinformation." I know it's hard for you to admit, but it's true. My email is only used for cgtrader. And I received emails from scammers. It wasn't even one email, there were several. My email address is only in the cgtrader database. cgtrader clearly has a security problem.
How about creating your own appropriate thread, or I don't know, tell CGTrader directly, instead of hijacking a thread with a completely Off Topic post?
Well, you don't know, I'll try to explain it to you more clearly.
1 - every 3-5 hours hackers post ads in this thread for their services, administrators delete them.
2 - the support service did not respond to our letters about this problem.
3 - since administrators read the thread, it was announced here that they probably have a leak of personal data on their site.
4 - Because hackers really tried to fraudulently take account data from us through this site.
Why not a new thread, but what for? That's enough.

The old payment system was outdated and corrupted, many would agree to this. The changes were needed, but instead of making new system that would be fair to all sides, cgtrader decided to screw everyone and make it so that the only beneficiaries would be themselves. Time and time again they proved that they don't care about their users and have no long term vision for this marketplace.
