Hello cg community, i have a suggestion to improve 3D jobs section. Since now anyone who is registered here can post there job offer, we have got a big mess in that section. A lot of people are misguided, thinking that 3D jobs section is a place where they can advertise themselves. So basically 1 out of 3 offers is fake. I think there should be a small fee in order to place an offer, something like a dollar, that will be included in a final price. This way a lot of empty offers will just dissapear.
Thank you. I am pretty much sure that there are people out here that are having a headache and lose there interest in that section because of this problem.
Can't decide where to apply: AAA game quality like character, complex car model with openable and animated doors, bonnet and everything or high quality tree with wind animation and each for $20. Seriously, they gonna spoil us. It's a shame that CGT decided to hide contractors details - community should know its heros by their names :]
The sick part is that some of those people posting are rich game or movie developers who can afford the higher price but know that everyone can get away with doing this so they do it too. They can even afford to hire someone like us to do the work in house giving us a proper pay check and the benefits that go with that.
I do not mind when some poor indie game start up company or personal developer or art student does this but gives the artist in question full rights to the model they make and ability to sell it on their CGT or other accounts as well as puts their name in the credits of game or movie.
Most of the time that is not part of the agreement which is terrible. When I was still capable of doing 3D artwork before all my physical injuries I was contracted by many of these companies who just nickel and dime me over and over.
I would make full blown models with textured, rigged etc... most of them for free and got nothing out of it. I did the work in the hope that I could get a permanent position at their company.
Most of those companies give you seasonal gigs and then replace you instantly with new recruits the second you ask for a raise...
Art is a shady business that needs to be fixed! If a big comp put up a post they need to pay the correct price and even the people who can't afford the higher prices should at the very least promote the artists who worked on their projects. Give them high ratings on their CGT accounts and maybe have to leave a personal positive comment on their profile.

To be honest, we have recently integrated the auto-approve system to our jobs, since we noticed that some jobs lacked communication process and some buyers disappeared entirely.
The auto-approve actually improved the process and communications a lot, and buyers seem to like it a lot more.
However, of course, some of these jobs are outrageous. We tried monitoring these jobs once a day and it seems it was not enough(I'll pitch in on it and we'll double the monitoring).
We think we'll also include the "report button" so designers could report if the job is shady and questionable.
As always, thank you so much for voicing these concerns (yes, I acknowledge that, even bad reports are GOOD reports!), as it helps us improve and notice some "holes" in our work.

Don't know what causes increase in those fake jobs, might be due to overall increase in traffic lately, but i think that CGT UI might add to confusion here. For person who has weak english knowledge, it may be hard to distinguish between "job", "work" or "product" and since job publishing is clearly exposed and model upload is somewhat hidden in menu, it's no wonder why some new guys get confused and publish in wrong section.
There have been numerous cases recently of people uploading their 3d work on the jobs section. They upload they're models and are giving them away for free without realizing it. ( I honestly cant see how one can mistake the JOBS section for a model upload...) anyway we need to take these jobs down asap so that more noobs dont do this and so that they dont throw away theyre hard work,

Maybe, if lucky, one out of ten jobs in the job section is decently paid, the remaining are all obscene. People don't understand, and don't wanna to, how much time and effort this work entails. Unfortunately, this is the situation, that's why I prefer developing my own models and sell them several times around if possible.
Otherwise, I really appreciate having more opportunities to work. So I guess the jobs section is a gift. Just depressing :D
Most clients do not know but some of them do and the ones that do and pay people under budget do it because they know they can get away with it. The problem is that there are no real unions protecting artists because art is not considered to be a real job by most people. Most people think art is a hobby. Because of that no one really cares enough about protecting art. If you think about it CAD drawing and 3D modeling is comparable to any of the high level skilled jobs that pay 100k per year, yet how many artists actually can say they make 100k per year? Society does not care enough about artists and the art field to put in the effort to correct the way artists are treated.
It always annoys me how a few childish people always ruin everything for everyone else. I mean if it is a job section then posting spam or inappropriate content is just annoying. That's why I try to limit my time on social media sites. There is only so many times I am willing to put up with people posting spam or porn on kid friendly pages I made on my account on purpose. You ban them and they come back with new accounts and then they continue spamming.
I agree with dimon9206 about putting in a fee but not when you post the job. A fee or sanction should be given to those who post spam jobs at the time they do it.
When the reviewing department finds a job is a scam or spam then they should make the user who posted it pay a dollar to each of the artists who applied to that job and had their time wasted.
I think this way is more fair so the artists to who receive a revenue for their wasted time. CGT needs to find more ways of turning the bad things that happen into positive ones so that even if bad people try to mess things up the artists and the website end up making money out of the bad situation.
The same thing goes for those people who keep copying modding and selling artists models. Instead of shutting down their accounts, if they are selling very well then keep the account open and send the earnings to the seller who owns the rights to the models and also keep some of the profit to fund CGT and keep it running so well.
A lot of the old tricks like banning people, closing out their accounts do not work anymore now that websites have expanded so much. The Romans learned this too in the old times when they over expanded their territory trying to take over of all of Europe and beyond they realized they did not have the man power to manage it all and got crushed in the end.
I do not know how many accounts there are on CGT now but I am guessing it must be a real head ache to manage all of it especially when so many people are constantly scamming the system. So that is why I came up with some of these ideas to turn something bad into good and make more money for artists who got the wrong end and also CGT which is my all time favorite 3D site!
I told the CGT many times that I would volunteer to do a clean sweep of the jobs and help them get rid of the trash for a hand full of change... something like 10 bucks a month... what you pay for Netflix. I would be more than happy to do it for as little as that just to improve the job posts and make sure the jobs are both reasonable and the clients know what they need cause a lot of time the clients post spam or don't even know what they actually need and waste the artists time
Cgtrader is a fantastic website! Sadly commercials and sites like fiverr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIIajW2XHbQ&app=desktop that should be sewed make clients and buyers believe that artists and their work is worthless! Then people like that come onto cgtrader and use the beautiful site incorrectly to scam artists! So long as young artists or desperate artists exist and are willing to work for less or for free the problem will continue... having said that some artists are so poor that they have no choice but to work for cheap.
Yes a fee would really be bad especially for people like me who don't have a big budget. Whatever I make selling models on CGT usually goes back into the system to artists I really like and enjoy working with. I usually can only afford a range like 20 to 30 dollars per mini project so if I have to spend one dollar just to post I probably would just stop using CGT for that and contact people directly.
All the jobs I post usually require very little modeling and mostly just rendering or texturing mods or converting into 3D printable STL. which usually does not take modelers a lot of time to do.
I am always very careful not to ask too much from artists and usually my jobs end up taking most modelers around 1 to 2 hours on and off to complete.
When clients have deep pockets the 1 dollar fee is fine but not all people can afford it.

This person uses CGT job section to find designers, but declares that he(she) will insist to bypass CGT and will work directly. Should be removed IMHO.
Also "I don t give money first" - i wonder who would dare to work with such moron?
I wonder if there is a game by the name of ( life is feudal) or if the person posting is just trying to be funny... He says he wants to buy a tavern model for 50 dollars.
With no picture or real reference nobody can tell what he or she is after.
I think there needs to be more structure in the way people post jobs if they want to be taken seriously.
There is no text describing if the model needs to be low, mid or high poly... there is no description of it needs to be textured or not. There is not description about if it needs to be made in a specific format.
This kind of job post is typical of someone trying to spam or just doesn't know what they want... either way it is a waste of time.
ooo! I think the report button would be a good one :) Or another good one would be a counter button where if enough artists think it is a scam the job gets deleted. So let's say an artist sees a job and thinks it is not reasonable they can click a counter button. If more than 5 artists click the button the job gets deleted.

C'mon guys, what's so hard in to taking a quick look at offer and see if it's real or not?
Since the registration is free and open, the report button will bring no good! At least the problem with fake offers will still remain.
The only reasonable solution would be a fee, that will be calculated in a price per offer. This way the real buyers will remain and no bs offers will be created. This fee can be refunded if no candidate was found. This way the buyers will always return. Plus for designers and for the buyers.
