Spam and low organic traffic
LOL killing the gallery is a sure way to deal with the spam. Following the same logic cutting one's head would be the best way to treat acne. On the other hand cgtrader's gallery was not much more than garbage collection for a long time now. I doubt it will be missed by many.
Anti-spam methods are being implemented and used and have never been limited only to the gallery section. It's a question of optimization. Spending time cleaning up a section that you've noticed has become garbage is a more acceptable strategy? I don't think so.
damn I never knew there was a gallery in cg traider and now its gone...sad :(
