I've been noticing that some 3D Models of copyrighted characters like Minions, are being sold on platforms like CGTrader. This got me thinking about the legal and ethical aspects of selling copyrighted content. What are your thoughts on this ?
Do you believe it's acceptable to sell 3D models of copyrighted characters without permission from the copyright holder? Have you encountered any instances of this in your own work or browsing?
Looking forward to hearing your perspectives@

Apart from what @jaguarbeastproduction mentioned, as the customer purchasing content (which I assume you are since you don't have any models for sale - or anyone else for that matter), you must check each item for copyright infringements since sellers can just lie if they want to.
The only thing that is stopping them is community members and copyright owners who make it obvious. Some companies already have black and white legal terms on 3D content such as Ford and Lamborghini so those models usually get taken down rather fast.
Some ridiculous provocative questions. Do you believe it's acceptable to sell. If the copyright holder considers it unacceptable, they can easily submit a request and the model will be removed. Everyone decides for themselves whether to sell under an editorial, custom or royalty-free license, changing brand names, or something else.
