Best Match Algorithm in the Jewelry Section - How Does It Actually Work?

Discussion started by j3dstudio

Hello everyone,

I would really like to understand how the “Best Match” system works in the Jewelry section on CGTrader.

For a long time, my store has been one of the top-performing shops in terms of exclusive jewelry models, unique artistic style, and sales volume.
But from time to time, my entire store suddenly disappears from the Best Match results for extended periods of time.

And I’m not talking only about myself.

I closely follow many of the top jewelry creators on CGTrader - artists who create exclusive models with their own recognizable artistic style, the kind of work that attracts new visitors and buyers to the platform.
Today, I noticed that many of these stores have disappeared from the Best Match results at the same time, just like mine.

This honestly makes me very confused.

Can someone please explain how this system actually works?

Is Best Match controlled entirely by automated algorithms?
Or is there some level of manual moderation involved?
Does someone manually decide which stores or models should appear in Best Match at a given moment?
Why do stores with strong sales history, exclusive content, and active customer engagement suddenly vanish from visibility?

As sellers, we invest an enormous amount of time into creating original models, improving quality, and building our stores over many years.
Because of that, sudden drops in visibility without any clear explanation can be very frustrating and difficult to understand.

I would genuinely appreciate any clarification from experienced sellers or from the CGTrader team itself.

Thank you.

Hello dear friend,
Nice to see this discussion here about the Best Match algorithm. I honestly don't fully understand how it works, but it seems that sometimes it favors stores that have recently uploaded a large number of models.
Maybe the total number of models and the frequency of publishing new ones are factors as well. Who knows?

I try to publish 15-20 new models per month in my store. Because the complexity of my models takes up time, I can't do more even if I wanted to. Will a store that launched yesterday and has minimal sales and reviews but has published 1,000 models always rank higher in Best Match search results?

I also noticed that within the BestMatch category, listings featuring high-frequency tags - such as Gold, Silver, Diamond, and Jewelry - tend to rank highly in search results.
