Help on 3d printing

I have a question is there a certian way printable models should be created or does any 3d .stl file can be printed just fine?

Model quality aside ( solid, manifold etc_ you can design the model so it prints easier. The biggest thing to worry about is the overhand angle. Think about a sandcastle. A pyramid prints easily, a tree with horizontal thin branches will not print without added supports.
