Yes, textures is my weak point, it is the part that I like the least and the one I am least satisfied with. But I always try to improve and give added value to my textures. For example:
Many of them are customizable, such as lisianthus and roses that have 5 different colors for each flower, or the eyeball that has 4 colors for the iris and can be combined using 2 other black and white textures as a pattern. The antennarius for example also has 2 colors, and the yellow texture is animable, in addition the quantity, placement and intensity of the polka dots can be varied.
All are original, many of them hand painted, with designs for fabric prints, hand fan embroidery, labels ... This may make them less realistic, but it makes them unique.
In the case of glaucus I made the texture of 8k so that the fingertips had some more detail, but as the animal measures 3 cm I thought that would be enough. The leafy sea dragon for example, has the texture of the same size but may have more detail.
8k wow, that's a big texture. You could try substance package to get some cool textures. Not really sure if they have presets for animals but it's worth checking out! You can get some high quality textures pretty quick. Cheers!
