Ancient Well - Workflow

Discussion started by jackfurneri1984

I'd like to show you the workflow I followed to produce this well:

https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/architectural/other/detailed-medieval-well

- I started off with base modeling inside of Maya, creating the necessary geometry (primarily cubes with deformers and with preliminary sculpting for the rocks)

- I moved to Zbrush to sculpt the wood and add some dirt effect inside the gaps of the element

- I added moss and details inside of Substance Painter as well as other details

- I firstly create a first render in mental ray, separating the different passes (ex. AO, cavity, etc...)

- In order to have more accuracy in some rock and wood details, I worked with PixPlant and modified some maps.

Finally I tested the render inside of Marmoset Toolbag, after setting up a proper light: my intention here was to create a kind of gloomy and "medieval" look. You can see it in the second image of the product.

The well is completely rendering with PBR and is a nice asset to integrate inside your environment.

Hope that you like it :))
