DESCRIPTION

The late 19th century witnessed a dramatic arms race in naval architecture, defined by heavily armored ironclad warships and pre-dreadnought capital ships. While the Ottoman ironclad Abdülkadir was envisioned as a monumental floating fortress to modernize the empire’s maritime fleet, she shares a striking architectural lineage, twin-funnel silhouette, and mid-deck barbette layout with the most famous completed ironclads of her era—such as the German Brandenburg class and the French Amiral Baudin class. Our 1-meter-long digital scale model captures this definitive era of naval engineering, delivering an exceptionally accurate rivet-by-rivet reconstruction based on historical archival plans. The comprehensive file pack includes 69 high-poly STL files alongside a full-color 3MF file, ensuring total geometry data integrity. Engineered with a hollow, 2.5mm to 3mm thick hull structure, this massive kit is optimized as an R/C project platform or a museum-grade static display piece.

3D printing settingsFor optimal print results on standard desktop FDM setups, we recommend using robust filaments like PLA or PETG configured to a layer height between 0.2mm and 0.25mm to capture fine deck assets without sacrificing part strength. Printing at a slightly elevated nozzle temperature (210–220°C for PLA) maximizes layer adhesion, which is crucial for preventing water seepage during active remote-controlled operation. The massive hull is logically sliced into interlocking segments—including a dedicated nose section and stern—equipped with robust alignment pegs to streamline assembly. Pre-heating your print bed to at least 60°C is highly advised to avoid edge warping across the expansive surface area of the main hull segments. Utilizing the native 3MF file format inside your slicer will eliminate scaling errors, preserve multi-part coordinates, and provide a flawless workspace framework. Use a high-viscosity CA glue or marine-grade epoxy to bond the interlocking segments securely, and ensure you coat both the interior and exterior surfaces with a waterproof resin sealant before installing your custom R/C motor mounts and propulsion running gear.
