HMS Majestic was the lead ship of the most numerous battleship class in naval history — nine ships that defined the peak of pre-dreadnought design and set the benchmark for battleships in navies around the world for more than a decade. Laid down at Portsmouth Dockyard in February 1894, launched on 31 January 1895, and commissioned on 12 December 1895, she measured 421 feet (128 meters) overall and displaced 16,060 tons at full load — making her the largest warship in the world at the time of her launch. She carried a main battery of four 12-inch guns in twin turrets fore and aft, twelve QF 6-inch guns, sixteen 12-pounder guns, and five 18-inch torpedo tubes, with barbette armor reaching 14 inches in thickness. She was the first British battleship to carry the wire-wound 12-inch guns that would become standard across twelve successive Royal Navy battleship classes, and the first to use smokeless propellant — simultaneously improving accuracy, rate of fire, and crew survivability in action. Her design influence extended far beyond the Royal Navy — the Japanese battleship Mikasa, Admiral Togo's flagship at the decisive Battle of Tsushima, was directly inspired by the Majestic class. The class also spawned two closely related successor classes — the slightly smaller and faster Canopus class designed for Suez Canal operations, and the near-identical Formidable class with incrementally improved armor and armament. HMS Majestic herself served with the Channel Fleet and Atlantic Fleet across nearly two decades before being torpedoed by U-21 off Cape Helles on 27 May 1915, capsizing nine minutes later in 54 feet of water with the loss of 49 men — the most dramatic warship loss of the entire Gallipoli campaign. The complete file pack includes 137 high-poly STL files covering the full hull, superstructure, and an extensive optional accessories library — plus a full color 3MF file for owners of color-capable printers. All parts are sliced to fit standard FDM printers with a minimum 22×22 cm print bed, and hull sections feature precision alignment details at every joint with dedicated clip types included to hold pieces securely while adhesive sets. RC readiness is fully integrated throughout — articulated rudders, twin propeller shafts, ESC mounts, and servo motor frames are all built directly into the hull design, with generous interior volume to house batteries and electronics without compromise. Interior access is provided through a system of removable and modular deck panels that can be secured with screws or standard 5mm x 2.5mm magnets for tool-free access during RC operation on the water, or glued permanently shut for a clean display finish. Underwater hull and topside superstructure sections are separated throughout the design, allowing builders to print in different filament colors for an authentic two-tone finish — correct antifouling below the waterline and Victorian battleship grey above — without any painting required. The extensive optional accessories library covers the full period detail of HMS Majestic — main turrets, secondary casemate guns, military masts, boat cranes, anchors, davits, ship's boats, torpedo equipment, and deck fittings — giving every builder complete control over their chosen level of detail and finish. Hull thickness is generally 2mm with superstructure walls between 2–5mm depending on form. We recommend 0.15mm layer height for hull surfaces and superstructure panels to bring out the rivet lines, armor plate details, and Victorian surface character that make this one of the most rewarding pre-dreadnought scale builds available anywhere.
