I wanted to discuss an issue that seems to be happening pretty often without a clear reason.
Namely, once I got contacted by a client about a potential custom project, and after we discussed the terms in small details and agreed to do the project with set terms, the client simply stopped responding.
If it had happened only once, I would call it a fluke. But it seems to have happened 3 or 4 times already this year.
I can’t pinpoint what the issue is, since I get the feeling that the potential clients were pretty set on doing the project and then—poof—nothing. Not even a single response to let me know they pulled away from the project.
I know that CGTrader has/had some issues with messaging, but it’s hard for me to believe there’s a site issue that would cause clients to completely stop responding.
I’m interested if anyone else has had similar experiences with this.

Back in the days when i still did freelancing on cgtrader such behaviour was quite typical. Not sure what it was, scouting, or maybe pranking, but yeah it wasn't unusual to have normal conversation with potential client about future assignment which would end up abruptly without any explanation.
