Hey, not sure if anyone will read this but I just want to put it out there.
About a year ago CGTrader made changes to lower the earning percentage for creators. My response to that was to just set all my models to free. Felt like the right call at the time.
What I didn't expect was that even the downloads dropped significantly in the months after. Which is strange because everything is free and I've been hitting the CGTrader certificate requirements and all that. I honestly don't know if something changed with the algorithm or if I'm just imagining things, but it doesn't feel right.
For context, I used to strictly make robot and mecha models. Since then I've been working more freely, just doing random stuff across different styles. It's been good creatively. Going forward I think I'll be leaning more toward stylized PBR so that's kind of the direction I'm heading.
Anyway the main point of this post is just to give a shoutout to my profile. If anyone stumbles across something useful, please go ahead and use it, that's the whole point. I'll keep uploading when I can.
The harder thing to say is that I've been unemployed for about half a year now. It's been genuinely rough. In my country there's just no place for me in my field right now and I've had to start looking at completely different directions. I know this might sound like crying out loud and honestly it kind of is, but I have no ego to protect here so I'll just say it as it is.
To the few people who have followed me over the years, really big thank you. And to those who have sent me messages just to check in, you have no idea how much that has kept me going.
If you find my work useful and want to support me, here is my donate page. Even a small amount really does help right now.
