Is this scamming?

Discussion started by TheBlenderStudio

I got a product support question for this model: https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/household/other/lowpoly-stylized-crate.

The person: Hi, I am ready to pay and buy from you.

Me: Thank you for your interest. Do you have any issues with purchasing? Please let me know how I can help.

The person: Done, please check the payment and confirm.

After payment, I was given a special Confirmation Link -
cgtrader.confermordinaa.icu/receive/465228890

Or you can scan the QR code to confirm.

Could someone please help me to figure out what that link is and is it scamming?

Yes, you can see a few obvious clues that this is scam. 1) Link points to domain confermordinaa.icu, not on cgtrader.com. 2) Under Recipient Details it says "This individual is not an employee of CGTrader." 3) If you do additional check against that domain you can see that it was registered today (Registered On: 2025-04-29) and location is Malaysia, not Lithuania. 4) You did not receive an e-mail about this message.

4) I mean, you've got an email as usual for new messages but support emails come with their name as sender, like e.g. "Julius CGT (CGTrader)", not as "CGTrader Team"

they are returning on different days taekn around 5 items then 10 items ...10 items when noticed....

I am uncertain; I only observed this issue when five models were purchased, followed by ten additional models. I have two accounts, and the same situation occurred on my second account. There seems to be something amiss here. The country where the transaction is typically located appears to be missing, which could indicate that the URL is being concealed. Furthermore, the price was lower than what is normally found on CG Trader, suggesting that the transaction may be fraudulent. actualy dont know the answer .... seems 100 peprcent scam either stealing or up something else

Today, I sent the details to CG Trader along with screenshots. I encountered an issue on Saturday regarding similar fraudulent job offers and fake debts associated with CG items sold . The direct mail appeared to be a legitimate proposition. I contacted CG Trader, but they continued to pursue making news accounts until I clarified that I am not accepting any offers at the moment to cease their communications.( that worked ) 100 percent

this now has occured ...that was resolved tofay last couple days i only noticed today

I've notice that fraudulent activities are increasing during last month or month and a half and that's not case with CGT alone. I've personally had issues with RenderHub, 3DExport, FlipNormals and CubeBrush (closed my accounts at former two). Friend of mine told me that TurboSquid is not spared as well. It's maybe time that 3D community consider making some kind of database for copyright protection (like DMCA for audio/video that reacts instantly when unauthorized usage is detected).

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.

These purchases were made by one of our verified enterprise clients under a bulk licensing agreement. In such cases, discounts of up to 70% may apply depending on your account settings, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions (section 18.11). This is a standard process for enterprise buyers purchasing in volume.

Also, please note that these purchases were processed yesterday, but due to the way enterprise transactions are handled, they may only appear on your dashboard later. This is expected behavior.

Rest assured, the sales are legitimate and will be added to your overall sales volume. No action is needed on your side.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
All the best,
Kristupas

I guess you've used options under "Maximize your earnings" in Discount section. This way CGT is selling your items elsewhere and putting their own price, regardless of what you think it's worth. There's also "Note: Prices of models will be determined by CGTrader in each of the following methods." Theoretically, you let them sell your models for $0.01 if they want to. You have no control over pricing of your own items. So you can continue letting them do that or you can deselect those two options and solve problem. It's your choice after all.
