Those GDPR Emails may violate a different EU regulation

Discussion started by VanishingPoint

I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the e-mails telling people to opt-into the e-mails again. You know, the ones that say "Due to new regulations coming into force in the EU on May 25, we will
no longer be able to contact you without your explicit consent. " I've received a few via e-mail and I even have copies in my CGTrader site-mail inbox.

The reason I ask is that I was reading TechDirt the other day and found an interesting article. According to their analysis, if a site is sending you an e-mail asking your permission to send them an e-mail, then logically, they already have your permission to send them an e-mail. In fact, repeated requests like this may actually violate EU regulations on sending spam.

Many Of Those Desperate GDPR Emails You've Been Getting Are Violating A Different EU Regulation

So, please, CGTrader, you don't need to keep asking for people's permission to send them e-mail. :)

I am responsible RGPD (DPO) in my company and I tell you that CGT has the OBLIGATION to submit to this procedure. The penalty for failure to comply with this procedure may result in a penalty of 20 million euros or 4% of the business tax
