Modest remark about this webside.

Discussion started by Panaristi

At first i find the design and the features of the webpage very successful. Also i know

that the 3d-printing is an great achievment. But i saw all over this side only 3D-printing models.

Clicking “buy 3d model” i only saw 3D-printing model there. For me it’s a little bit to much

focus on this field. I wish i could that the different fields ( Printing - Models - Gallery )

became the equal attention. I have the creeping feeling that new customers or visitors think it’s

only a 3D-printing-side. Thanks for reading.

Same here. Really dislike that 3D print models come in front of the good old regular ones. After all, there are more traditional 3D models here and more customers for these models than print-ready ones.

Would be a lot better to go back to the old system with a unified search and a "Print-ready" tick box to see only printable models.

When I joined this site and put up my models, I almost instantly started to have pretty good sales, compared to other site (u probably know which). Right now my sales are somewhere around zero while the other site shows few of them every month so even if they take 60%, it's still much more profitable than CGTrader. Sorry to say that but the early premise of this site is gone now and selling models here is almost no business for me if the only activity I get is free downloads of my sample model. I have many more models in the works but I see no point in offering them here as people obviously don't come here for CG related models that they would like to buy.

I must admit that I had a couple of good sales after a short time I got here. I still have a lot more views per day than other sites (one in particular), but no more sales. I got a lot of sales on other sites during the last few months (one site in particular). I tried offering free sample models and lowering my prices here to no avail. At this point I think I'll offer my products on a single site exclusively. And I'm not happy about it. I found a good community here, Google placement is top notch, the management and crew are very professional, tech support is fast and efficient, troubles are addressed fast, problems are solved. I still have to pay for my bills though.

Thanks for the replays guys.
Have also notice that the views and sales be less.
OK after years in this buiness i have often phases with low turnover. There's nothing to it.
But thinking about a new visitor who landed first time on this side the cg -models
are to hidden for me. I would rather go to the old sytem or a side where all new
upload models were advisible. In any cases some cg or gallery-pics. I think at least the views are rising. Perhaps the sales.
Particulary because the models here are low cost than by other (Know which) sides.

Hi guys,

First of all, thanks a lot for your feedback and comments, we really appreciate it!

The decision to bring 3D printing to the front page was based on careful analysis of how CG and 3D printing customers get to the website and purchase models. CG customers are professionals, who know exactly what they need for their project, thus majority of them come in directly to the model page via our search or the search engines, and might skip the front page altogether. 3D printing customers are designers, makers and early adopters of 3D printing, and are more likely to want recommendations, inspiration, as well as discovery of different products for their tinkering and entertainment, which is why we decided to display 3D printing in the frontpage, but have a dedicated CG model page, thereby serving both CG and 3D printing buyers.

We really appreciate your support for CG Trader, we are working very hard to make this the best place for designers to sell and showcase their models and increase your sales - so thank you very much for your patience and staying with us while we grow. Also, if there is anything else you would like us to improve, please let us know at any time here - or via a personal message.
