as a buyer talking to a designer can be a little frustrating when there is no way to tell when there is a reply without refreshing the page manually.

is there something im missing?

the notification would be a mild annoyance. i like to keep out of page popups to a minimum.
the refresh type i was thinking of is whats present in practically all messaging apps/pages/sites/whatchamacallits

You should get e-mail wheneve there's new message in your workplace. See notification settings in your profile, maybe it get disabled for some reason.
