Feedback and Questions About the New System

Discussion started by MrEye

Hello CGTrader team and community members,

I wanted to share my thoughts about the new system and hear your opinions as well. With the recent changes, there have been significant updates to the earnings structure, user interface, and some technical areas. While some of these might make sense in theory, the actual impact seems to have negatively affected many users. Here’s a summary of my experience:

1. Earnings System and Level Drop
In the previous system, we earned Reputation points based on likes, comments, and sales of our models. These points determined our level and allowed us to receive a higher revenue share.
Now, the new system calculates commission rates based on annual sales volume.
While it may seem fair to reward consistent sellers, this transition has suddenly pushed many users, including myself, into much lower levels. For example, I used to be in a relatively high percentage bracket under the old system, but now it seems nearly impossible to reach the same rate. This directly results in a noticeable income loss. Couldn’t a fairer transition model have been implemented with more balanced thresholds?

2. User Interface and Statistics
The updated Dashboard feels significantly less functional and far from user-friendly compared to the old version. For instance, I can no longer directly access sales stats, model scores, or review history. These have been moved to the “My Models” and "My Sales" pages, but even there, the data is incomplete and difficult to analyze.
Additionally, removing the Reputation system entirely is demoralizing. The points we’ve accumulated over the years are no longer even visible on our profiles. Completely ignoring them is quite frustrating.

3. Technical Issues
I’m not sure if this is only happening to me, but I’m currently unable to upload new models to the store. Even after filling out all required fields, the “Publish” button remains unresponsive, and after a while, I get a “Something went wrong” error. I’m not sure if it’s a technical issue or a temporary bug, but it definitely needs to be addressed.

Suggestions and Questions:

Couldn’t the transition to the new earnings system have been more gradual, or based on users’ historical performance?

Why were the Dashboard and statistics sections made less functional instead of improving them?

Isn’t it unfair to long-time contributors that the Reputation points have become completely irrelevant?

In conclusion, change is always difficult, and some of these steps may have been made with good intentions. However, such a sharp decline in both user experience and earnings is negatively impacting many content creators. I hope the CGTrader team takes this feedback into account and works on improving the process for the benefit of everyone.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, similar experiences, and any solutions you might have found.

Thank you.

Much as I agree with your sentiments. They do not care. They don't read this stuff, and they don't reply to it. They don't even reply to direct messages, beyond quoting the boilerplate "these things are for your benefit" etc. As if we are children, and they own us.
