Please don't let down the 3D industry

Discussion started by weeray

Hello,

Yesterday I sold my models for 47% discount. That is ridicules. Of course I got the 100% royalties but I would say, It is very bad for 3d Industry. People buy 3d models because they need them, not just they want them. Now 3d models selling just like physical goods.

I agree that you got more sales when you offer discounts. But it's not about the money, It's about the industry that we love. I hate that some pretty good $200 models went for $100. It's days of work. Cgtrader starts with 30% and now 65%. Now Turbosquid starts with 20%. Imagine what happen to the 3d industry in a couple of years.

Looks like these companies care about the money other than the 3D industry. That is disgusting.

I'm going to opt out from the discount even I wouldn't have any sales.

Best Regards,

Srinath

It is all about the money mate ;) 3d stocks are for getting extra money side by side with normal work where we are doing Good stuff for portfolio, grater idea, saving world ect, ect.
"Of course I got the 100% royalties but" - you should read this again and think about this one more time.
By the way, you didn't setup your price with royaltys for cgtrader? My option is: if something is worth 100$ im increasing price with royalty for CGT. simple
Good luck with sales!

Hello Weeray,

It is always a pleasure to read your comment, because you are one of the rare impartial sellers on the TS threads and i appreciated.

Concerning your worry about the 3D industry.
From the beginning I have argued that a CG product reacts, from a commercial point of view, exactly as a physical product. That means: Quality + low price = sale

It's a simple equation that works since antiquity, that you sell a pair of sock, a car, a service or a graphic product

Now I can understand that you can feel hurt by seeing your creation dumped during a discount
It's a matter of cursor position - Are you more an artist or a seller?

If you are more artist in your heart, then uncheck the box witch allows CGT to promote your products, you will be reassured and proud to see your products at a good price .. But you must expect to sell less.

Or you're more a seler and you agree to sacrifice 30% to make more sales and increase your royalties.
Of course your products will be underrated, but you will earn more money and CGT too.

Personally I feel much more humiliated when I sell a product with a full price, and that I only get 40%

Since I read threads, here, regarding the new discount period, Not once have we thank the CGT team who ALSO participates in the discount, taking charge of some of the discount.
As elsewhere, there are also 20% discount but only on the seller's part..

Since this period of discount my royaltie on CGT have seriously increased, so I do not complain.
Additional argument, these discount offers decreases the gap with undercutters because the buyer will no more hesitate between the quality and the price :)

I wish you happy sale and congrats for you diamond badge :) The first is the longest, the others come much faster :)

I opted out from the discount offers. So I wouldn't have any sales in weekends :) Wish there were more levels after diamond. Thank you and happy sales to you too.

As a consumer, trust me. I don't buy models at its full price.

I don't mind and I don't sell cheaper or offer discounts like other artists. I don't offer discounts even I wouldn't have any sales.
