How does the jobs system work?

Discussion started by Brenden-Pilsner

I am hoping to get into the 3D jobs section but first I have a few questions.

1.) Do you apply for the job then make the model of vice versa?

2.) How can you contact the person who posted the job?

3.) The programs that are specified, are they the only ones that can be used?

Thank you for answering!

Hi Pamela,

1. Yup, first you apply for the job, sort out the details and start working on a model.

2. You can contact the customer directly via "Apply for this job" - the customer is responsible for his job applications and will see all information and your comments from there.

3. This normally defines the model formats that the customer would like to get. This also go well with the previous point - by contacting the customer you will be able to sort out the details.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Eddie, CGTrader

Hi there, To upload a model, click on the side menu icon (top right) and click on "Upload 3D model" - it all goes from there.:)

Just to bring more clarification on No. 1 - do not ever start working on model without job poster choosing you for the job first. First agreement on the job and then actual work on it, not the other way around!

Ok thank for clarifying. But just One more question then, How do I get the customer to choose me?

Pamela, I guess it's similar to any freelance job inquiry? Good and clear presentation of yourself, clear thoughts, good portfolio or something that would fit the job description. :) I guess Lemonade will have something to add as well!

Yep, exactly what Eduardas said, just in reverse order :] Good portfolio is most important, then goes good communication skills and then honest and modest self presentation.

Sorry guys! I just applied for a job and at first it said 'Not Yet Selected' but now it says 'Waiting For Approval'. What does that mean for me?

Hi again,

At the moment, once the job is posted it is automatically approved. Yet we see the dip in the quality of these job presentations, and started working on improvements and contacting the customers to get some feedback and prepare an upgrade to Job platform. So, some of these jobs can be unapproved, while we help out the customer figure out the details and get more familiar with our jobs system.

At this moment, "Waiting for approval" means the job needs to be approved by admins before it is considered an active job.

Oh ok so just wait a little and then it should go away?

people should be notified if a job is taken, hired. Is there a way to check whether someone has been hired or not for a job?

So there is only 2 days left on the above job and it still says awaiting approval.

Unless you've been chosen for that job, you don't have to worry what status it is in. Some jobs never gets past posting stage, either because job poster change his mind, didn't find suitable designer or he makes agreement with designer to bypass cgtrader and to work on private basis. When job poster will choose you as a designer, then and only then you will be obligued to fulfil your agreements to him. The sole fact that you sent application for some job, doesn't mean anything untill you aren't chosen for that job. So stop worrying and keep aplicate to jobs that fits your specialty - eventually someone will choose you and if you'll do your job well, you'll gain ranking and reputation and that will help to win next jobs more easily. Good luck!

So in the jobs application part, it said approved. Does that mean I was chosen or the post just got approved but not yet for me to start?
