Free HDR images, models and cg wallpapers

Discussion started by PLC

Hello CG community.

After a lot of consideration I have decided not to post any free 3d models or other freebies whatsoever on cgtrader. That is because our web page has been active for a couple of years now and there you can find HDR images, 3D models and rendered wallpapers.  It is a free download, do with the stuff as you please. Do not sell them but feel free to use them as private and/or commercially. Yes, also we would like to build up our traffic and not to duplicate or separate free stuff for it is a time consuming process.

The quality of HDR images and models were determined by the particular project demands. So if you find, for example, that a certain model or HDRi has a fault viewing them from a certain PoV, we are sorry in an advance.

Comments are welcome. You may post them on  one - or more :) , social profiles.

So things are as follows: more you comment or like - dislike on our social profile pages, more we`ll keep them uploading.

Hope you`ll enjoy and thanks for understanding our reasons.

Yes I agree! I have also stopped giving out free models unless clients contact me directly and ask for them. It is stupid to just let people download your models for free without the chance of making a connection with your clients. The buyers don't respect you because they think you don't value your models by having everything for free and you don't earn any money or even get noticed because everyone is doing it... Bottom line free models are bad for business unless given to specific buyers who come to you and ask for them. Only that way you can begin to build rapport or a business relationship with clients and if they are truly interested after they sample a product they will buy from you more frequently.

Ok, @money I understand your reasons.
My perspective is that it is very handy to have free resources on the net, especially if one does not need to pass through steps like registering, redirecting etc. It helps a lot and boosts a project if U find a free model that perfectly fits in the project.
Our free models are extracted from projects and they are not fit to be sold. They were modeled according to a project`s PoV.
We treat these stuff as freebies that may be useful to someone`s project also. And on the other hand may be useful to us by building up popularity of the page leading to new contacts leading to exchange of information leading to new business projects etc.
It is common cultural behavior to leave a sign of gratitude if one finds something that is useful. In a way to post a comment, or like or even dislike. It will tell us what are the major faults, stuff that is most/less wanted, quality of our work, etc. Of course no one is obliged to do so.
So we`ll keep them coming as much as our business schedule permits us.
Best regards.

@Paul - You`re welcome.

Hello Abhimanyu Kashyap, yes you may use them.
Also, a token of appreciation (facebook like, twiter follow, google+ follow, link to our site, source mentioned ...) is very welcome.
Kind Regards.

OK . I will. Yesterday I learnt to shoot my own HDRi images, but till the time I get better with it and can shoot any good ones, I might use your HDRis and procedurally generated ones which I can create in my software, and I will surely place your links as well. Thank you.

About your decision of not to post free models, I agree, I used to put some of my good quality models for free, but now I don't think that's such a good idea. Right now I have put some of the bad looking models as free, in future I will try to come up with a better solution, or not give any for free at all ..

Thanks, looks really usefull, actually in terms of free models you might also be able to put them on sellfy. a new digital content selling website and then just give the links or something, saves you from making your own website
