Sometimes when some dumb naive people are trying to obey some laws they are making problems to people like you (hobbyists, collectors etc).

For example few days ago here was post about "Cgtrader deleting models". Man started it after CGT deleted his models of weapons. Because it was "not just models" but CAD files . For me this situation looked very stupid and unfair (as engineer I don't see big difference between meat grinder and gun: both are objects). But lots of people have sane "ethical concerns" as 3d-printing-service-donkey.

I´m quite sure you know what you´re talking about, and you´re right, there´s no chance to mistake a true weapon, that´s why it all sounds so strange, moreover yu´re not asking for a so detailed model wich probably would need a lot of moving parts to be functional.
Then, you´re right too , anyone with a printer can do the job provided it has the fully detailed parts files, but I doubt the models for sale in CGT have this level of detail and accuracy, mainly in the inner construction.

Its important to know these things for us, modelers ,as you previously stated.
Just curious, which print size asked you for? i mean I can understad they don´t want to print a true size model, but what if you ask for a miniature model?

This was a model of a L1A1 SLR rfle ,
I put it into a few online printing services for a quote on printing , here are extracts from just 2 e mails recieved

Following on your request #EQ5#166#,
I have checked the models of your request and we can't quote them.
Models intended for the weapons industry/ models resembling a weapon or models for which we have ethical concerns, like skimming devices or functional keys, don't qualify for printing. We can refuse these orders at all times. We don't print models that are in conflict with our mission and value statement.

Quite interesting point, often we have here some discussions about copyright issues, but never heard something like this, will you elaborate a bit more on the subject?
