I was approached by the team 3 times and so far i managed to earn exactly $0 from this affair. First time they went silent on the final stage of communication. Few weeks later, i was told that contract was cancelled by a client. To be honest, i don't buy that, after reading comments from other participants and seeing that this "cancellation" is very common, i think that cgtrader is simply giving the same offer to multiple designers at once and picking the cheapest ones. For others, contract is "cancelled by the client".

Next approach was with offer to make fairly complex model for a funny price with the next day deadline, because previous designer failed to deliver. I turned offer down, because i don't do flash jobs and i also believe that urgent orders must be paid extra.

And then was last, e-mail, sent to everybody, with the list of jobs to choose. But, as already mentioned by other designers, the list got empty very quickly and you have to be constantly logged in and monitoring situation if you want to have a chance to snatch a single order from it.

So far it looks that cgtrader greatly overestimated their ability to get constant orders. They have army of hungry designers, who are ready to compete for lowest price and only few orders available. And for those who think that situation with real-time model orders might be better, i can say that i completed both assignements and so far didn't see any sign of real-time orders at all.

I'm starting to think that i just wasted my time by participating in this affair, because cgtrader isn't able to provide constant flow of offers, isn't reliable and seeks for cheapest price only. I can get much interesting offers from their freelance board.

Hi everyone, this is Vytautas from CGTrader. Just wanted to clear up some of the questions raised in this thread.

We‘re excited to see our community actively joining our 3D design partnership. We‘ll be adding several hundred new available assignments on our Wildcat system by the end of next week and then continue with even larger numbers in late December and early January. So all designers will have many assignments to work on.

As we move forward with this project, we expect to have a constant stream of assignments on Wildcat available for our designers.

@joevallard, designers on Wildcat are allowed to work on 7 unfinished assignments at a time but can and do complete a lot more than 7 models per month. As soon as any of those 7 unfinished assignments are approved a designer can start taking new ones again. I hope this makes it more clear.

I am about to take the BPR test to star freelanceing on Wildcat, is it in anyway worth it?

Yes, a lot of us got it by email, it's legit.

"1. Earn up to $1,5k USD per month; " Well my message didn't include that. As for this email, yes it is legit. They sent out 2 waves of models so far. The first wave I was assigned 3 models to do by them (2 were canceled by the manufacturer >_> soI only got 1 model to do.) The 2nd wave allowed me to chose between 25 models, which you are allowed to pick one at a time. Submit, pick another, up to 7 models.

I'm unsure if their was more than 25 models in this wave, or if I was just assigned 25 of these to pick from. I can say that after I finished my first model in 90 minutes and went to pick up another. The list of 25 was down to 18, after that it went down to like 10. So it seems to be on a first come first server basis.

If they are sending out waves every month and the max your allowed to do is 7, the most you can make is $280 a month for the archviz models. ($40 is the highest they payout per model.) Maybe the realtime models pay more, I'm not sure I didn't have time to complete the test for that one. Even if I was able to do all 25 models that I could pick from, that still doesn't add up to $1500, It was about half that.

It would really be nice to have a subforum to see how this process works and let us discuss things as a group.

In the test task you need to make only a dresser or logos, too?

The offer seems good, it's just I don't use 3ds Max or V-ray.

Seemed like a good deal they way they described it. I guess it just depends on whether your willing to work for 25 cents an hour or not!

So, this opportunity is great. But, you have to change the way you think about what your getting into. Could you make a lot of money selling 3D models? Yes, you absolutely can. Is this opportunity a dream come true where this is all you have to do to get by? No, probably not. They have made this into a business scheme where they can get free / cheap models that are photoreal from people that are striving to find a place in the 3D modeling business making boo-coos of money off of people. BUT, what they do offer you is experience, a deadline to meet, and a team of people to both critique your work and to give you helpful suggestions on how to improve your work. You are kind of hiring them to be a team behind you teaching you what you need to make a professional looking model and giving you the kick in the but you need to get work done on a tight deadline. You have to pay them in the form of models that they have the rights to and they get to sell to who knows how many people. But I believe that if they market this opportunity as a learning and experience earning deal they would have more people dedicated to the work that they ask. Whatever money you get is nice.
