Bad Month

Discussion started by SimonTGriffiths

Anyone else finds the correlation between world events and their sales taking a knock?

April was terrible for me and I blame the virus of course. May was the best month I've ever had and it coincided with the ease of lockdown in most countries.

This month started well until these protests kicked off and after that, I've only made a few sales. I've been I business all my life and I've never seen such a fickle industry as this one :o

I also noticed a fall in sales each time Trump says something ridiculous on Twitter. This tells me that game-devs are very, very sensitive lol. I wonder what this American election will do?

April was the best month of the entire year so far... Then things started to slowly take a turn for the worse. May was only half of what April was, and now so far in June, it's about half or less of what May was. So it's not a good month. So far, I'm finding this month to be THE worst month I've had in a very long time.

For me April was ok, May was the worst..
I think it's just the usual randomness of this market.

Mart, april, may, june... I think july won't he better. I blame not virus but government (of any country) reactions that not helped but made situation catastrophic for all people except handful of VIP's... (but it's standard for western post-civilization, and also for autocratic regimes... and for human nature at all)... IMHO. I had optimism about "fresh breath" due to crisis. But until all supply chains are broken (at least for all of us, not for politicians or tycoons), optimism worth noth8ng.

Glad to see it isn't just me then that's feeling it this month. I'm selling much more on Sketchfab than here which is very unusual indeed.

march was my best month. after that, it went down hill.
April was that not bad, but may was quite bad. this month is not going much better.

that said, i am quite new, so my experience might not say much

I am a seller on Unreal Engine Marketplace, and I experience the same over there. A nice April, and a very bad May, and June:\

The sales of April made me smile, but then came may and now june and it is so quite now. Most of my customers is from the USA and is often freelance designers, small production companies and hobbyist. I think those have been hit hard by the lockdown.

My monthly sales for the past 5 months have been around $300 / month. It's been very stable but June has been a terrible month for me. The sales have been $150..
It's very weird.. I thoought there was something wrong with my profile... but I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.
