Sci-Fi challenge - WIP space cruiser

Discussion started by captainmarlowe

Hi there. Here are some pictures of my entry for the sci-fi challenge. The model is completely finished and textured, and needs some rigging, now, mainly for easy animation of the guns.

It is a command cruiser of the solarian fleet in the universe of my science-fiction novels.

I should upload the model on CGTrader tomorrow, or on monday.

Hope you'll like it.

I love how you merged a futuristic design with a good ol pirate ship. It looks great! Also really love how your rendered it!

Thanks ! This said, my inspiration was rather the XVIIIth century men'o war than the pirate boats. These space vessels I create occasionally are the visual expression of the ones described in the sci-fi universe in which I am currently writing a trilogy (first book is already self-published), which is inspired by the kingdoms of the late XVIIth- early XVIIIth centuries.

I made a short animation test in Lightwave, with some special effects added in compositing.

Thanks ! I'm much more attracted in animation and VFX than in modeling these days.
