....aaaaand take that back. Tried everything; every kind of modification to my model, to the mesh as well as even the variations of zip files and nothing worked; still always the same message. The frustration makes me even more curious as to what this would be about.

All right; it is pretty straightforward and I feel so foolish:
Select the fbx itself and materials then right click to zip. That simple.
I kept trying to zip the folder they were in... Tried every variation until I was blue in the face...
