DESCRIPTION

Inverter Magnetic Topology - Suspended Shaft in Cylinder - Concept.

I call this next piece, ... Suspended Shaft in Cylinder.

Easily place correctly sized magnets, correctly polarized in the holder shapes, and they will act like inverted magnetic islands, pushing and pulling each other, attracting and repelling, a maglock without touching, still able to turn with some magnetic resistance yet no wear on the mechanical parts. A magnetic bearing in essence. Changing the magnet strengths changes the torque or slippage of the contraption. 4 magnets of one polarity in the outer holder, pull on the opposite central magnets mounted onto the shaft and vice versa. I separated the shaft and the mount, but they fit like a hand in glove, it could even be attached as one shaft without the separation. Exported multiple formats. added the original 3dsmax drawings, for scaling to magnets size one actually owns :)

  • Made the actual shaft a little more useful for demonstrations. imagine if we made the inverted magnetic holder in a torus form.
  • Added the extended shaft, print stator and rotor parts multiple times, as needed for shaft balance.
