DESCRIPTION

Discus Elephtheria - 3D Print Model.

Trying to focus on easy printing and assembly. How hard can it be?

Added a dampening system. We could suspend the motors centrally, using a good rubber strap or band contraption. This would not allow as much vibrations to transfer into the crafts hull, which could be ultimately damaging over time, as we use 16 motors in this example.

Also made every part so far into a repeatable module, all sharing a zeroed Z axis, so that they can easily be printed multiple times at the same time, saving time, when placed onto a 3D printing bed. Kinda like Legos, or a easy 3D printable home kit for self assembling a ufo. Mix and match parts.

Could have different modules, with different functions, fit them in and or replace them quickly. have also added some heat dissipation and mass reduction holes. less mass, longer flight times.

Created a printable structure that fits perfectly between all the forms in the negative space, for the connection of segments, or modules. The space can be left open for saving material, or be filled with glue for example. printing them adds structural integrity to the craft.

A few more shots of the added structural enhancers.

Created custom battery spaces, made them hollow, all with a shared zeroed Z axis for easy printing on a also flat print-bed. The space inside can be used for fuel or batteries of course. The center is a hollow cylinder that can hold different electronics needed for flight control

Stereo Thermal imaging and or a combination of Lidar, perhaps Ir. as normal front lights would not help us out much. Maybe a continual laser distance reading in front of the craft could serve as a [camouflaged] object collision warning system, automatically maneuver to avoid it.
