DESCRIPTION

A complete standard-gauge quarry freight train in an industrial yellow and black livery: a diesel road switcher, four loaded wagons, a cupola caboose, two 40 ft shipping containers and modular ballasted track that tiles as far as you need it. Everything is built to real prototype dimensions at 1:1 metric scale, so the wagons couple to each other correctly and the track sections butt together without adjustment.

Seven models in one pack, each also supplied as its own centred GLB so you can drop a single caboose into a scene without importing ninety-six metres of train.

WHAT IS MODELLED

The locomotive is a generic four-axle hood unit in quarry yellow with black handrails, cab roof and skirt bands. The long hood carries radiator grilles behind vertical shutters, three roof fans, a spark-arrestor exhaust stack, a winterisation hatch and a dynamic brake blister. The low short hood has a twin sealed-beam headlight, number boards, class lights and a matte anti-glare panel. Underneath is a full air system: compressor, main reservoir pipe runs down both sides, train line, and sanding pipes dropping from each truck frame to just above the railhead. Both pilots carry hazard chevrons, ditch lights, MU hoses and a plough. The cab is a real shell, not a solid block - floor, two seats, control stand with throttle and brake handles, rear lockers, windscreen wipers and cranked sunshades, all behind the glazing. A rotating amber beacon sits on the cab roof.

The boxcar is a hollow shell with exterior posts, a corrugated end, a peaked ribbed roof and a full-length see-through running board with cross-walks at both ends. Both sliding doors are separate objects, so you can slide one back and find a modelled interior with a planked floor and the inside flanges of the side posts. Corner ladders run all the way to the roof walk, and there are placard boards, route-card boards and a hand brake wheel.

The mill gondola is genuinely open. The floor is plated across the car, the inside face of every side sheet is real, and the inner rib flanges are modelled, so it holds up from any raised camera angle. It carries a heaped load of steel scrap - eighty-eight separate offcuts - as its own object, which you can delete for an empty car or keep on its own for a yard scene.

The covered hopper is a four-bay car with the slope sheets and outlet bays that give the type its silhouette. Ten round roof hatches have raised coamings, hinged lids, ribs and latches, with twin running boards either side of them and a safety rail at the B end. Each outlet bay has a gate, a rack housing and an operating shaft with its handwheel.

The well car is a pair of deep plate girders with the floor slung between them at 450 mm above rail - the dropped well that defines the type. Webs, flanges, vertical stiffeners, end bulkheads and stacking cones are all modelled. It carries two 40 ft ISO containers, double stacked, as separate objects.

The caboose is the piece most rail packs leave out. Open end platforms at both ends with planked decks, railings and step sets; a cupola glazed on all four sides with two lookout seats inside; a smoke jack over a modelled stove; marker lamps at all four corners; roof walks either side of the cupola. The interior is real and lit through the glass - conductor's desk and stool, bunk with mattress, lockers, stove and flue.

Every wagon has a modelled underframe - centre sill, body bolsters, cross bearers, air reservoir, brake cylinder, control valve, train line and the levers and piping between them. Trucks are three-piece castings with open bolster windows, coil spring groups, journal boxes and brake shoes, not flat plates.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION88,880 triangles across the assembled scene166,316 vertices as exported to GLB (52,470 in the source mesh - the glTF exporter splits a vertex at every hard edge and UV seam; same geometry, same triangle count)195 separate objects, logically named and groupedQuad and triangle polygon mesh, no n-gonsReal-world metric scale, 1 unit = 1 metre, Z up, train runs along +XAssembled scene 120,320 x 4,600 x 6,344 mm including 120 m of trackConsist length over couplers 96.02 mEvery file sits on Z = 0 - nothing floats and nothing is buriedNo rigging, no animation, no cameras and no skins in the export

Prototype dimensions used throughout: 1,435 mm track gauge, 136RE rail section, 550 mm sleeper pitch, 876 mm AAR coupler centreline, 673 mm truck centre plates, 838 mm freight wheels, 1,016 mm locomotive wheels and a 450 mm well car floor.

MATERIALS AND TEXTURES24 PBR materials, all solid-colour Principled BSDF using base colour, roughness and metallic only. There are NO texture maps at all - zero images are embedded in the GLB - so nothing can arrive missing or unlinked and every material reproduces exactly in any renderer. UVs are present on every mesh (0 primitives without TEXCOORD_0) in one shared non-overlapping layout, ready for you to paint or bake onto. Objects are named vehicle_assembly_M_material so you can select by material from the name alone.

FILES INCLUDEDGLB, glTF + BIN, FBX, OBJ + MTL, USDC, USDZ, STL, PLY, ABC and the native Blender 5.1 file, all of the assembled train.A separate archive holds each vehicle on its own as a centred GLB - locomotive, boxcar, gondola, covered hopper, well car, caboose, a 40 ft container, the scrap load and a 20 m track section - along with a README giving the measured dimensions of every piece.

ENGINE NOTESImport at 1.0 scale in Unreal or Unity; the model is already in metres. The track sections tile on a 20 m pitch, so a loop or a yard is a matter of duplicating one object. Use simple box collision on the car bodies and the containers; the handrails, ladders, roof walks and brake rigging are visual only. Delete the track objects if you have your own permanent way. No LODs are supplied.

The grass, sky and ground in the preview images are a set built only to photograph the model. They are NOT included in any of the files - you get the train and the track, clean. The .blend does carry the studio lighting rig the roster images were shot with, which you are welcome to reuse.

LIVERY AND BRANDINGDeliberately unbranded. There are no railroad names, reporting marks, running numbers, builder's plates or commodity placards anywhere on the model, and the locomotive is a generic road switcher rather than any specific prototype. The blank panels on the car sides are there for you to letter for whichever road you like, without inheriting anyone's trademark.
